Your 2023 Australian Grand Prix Predictions: The Results

Did you predict a points finish for Piastri? Or that Red Bull would fail to record a 1-2 result? How many of your pre-race predictions for the 2023 Australian Grand Prix were correct? Find out below!

1. WILL PIASTRI REACH Q3 AND SCORE POINTS?

YOUR PREDICTION: NO Q3 & NO POINTS

CORRECT ANSWER: POINTS BUT NO Q3

Oscar Piastri didn’t reach Q3 at the 2023 Australian Grand Prix – but he did score points. He emulated fellow Australian Mark Webber by scoring his maiden points at his home event.

2. WILL RED BULL RECORD A 1-2 RESULT?

YOUR PREDICTION: YES

CORRECT ANSWER: NO

For the first time this year, Red Bull failed to record a 1-2 result at the 2023 Australian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen won the race but Sergio Perez could finish no higher than fifth. Perez was eliminated in Q1 after sliding off track on Saturday. He started from the pit lane and gained 15 positions over the course of the race.

3. HOW MANY OF THE TOP 6 ON THE GRID WILL FAIL TO FINISH?

YOUR PREDICTION: 1

CORRECT ANSWER: 1

There have only ever been two races at Albert Park at which none of the top six drivers on the grid retired. The 2023 Australian Grand Prix did not join that list. George Russell – who started second and led in the early stages – was the only one of the top six starters to retire from the race.

4. WILL ALPHATAURI SCORE ANY POINTS?

YOUR PREDICTION: NO

CORRECT ANSWER: YES

AlphaTauri picked up their first point of the season thanks to Yuki Tsunoda. After finishing 11th for three consecutive races, Tsunoda finally broke into the top ten at the 2023 Australian Grand Prix – a result of a penalty for Carlos Sainz. Tsunoda did finish 11th on track, but moved up to 10th after Sainz’s five second time penalty was applied.

5. WHERE WILL ALONSO QUALIFY?

YOUR PREDICTION: IN THE TOP THREE

CORRECT ANSWER: 4th

60% of voters predicted Fernando Alonso would qualify in the top three at the 2023 Australian Grand Prix. He just missed out on doing so, qualifying fourth behind Max Verstappen and the two Mercedes drivers.
