2022 Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Sebastian Vettel recorded both his best qualifying and best race result of the year so far. After qualifying ninth, Vettel finished sixth. It was his best result since finishing fifth at the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix. Vettel remains the only driver to have scored in every race held at Baku City Circuit, with sixth place being his worst result here to date. Along with Lewis Hamilton, he is one of only two drivers to complete all 306 racing laps held so far at Baku City Circuit.

2022 Canadian Grand Prix

For the first time in 12 visits to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Sebastian Vettel failed to score a point. His 12th place was the first time he has not finished in the top eight at the track and the first time since 2008 that he has not finished in the top five. On Saturday, Vettel was out in Q1, failing to reach Q2 at the Canadian Grand Prix for the first time since 2015.

2022 British Grand Prix

Finishing in ninth place, Sebastian Vettel became the first driver to score points having started 18th on the grid at Silverstone since Jaime Alguersuari in 2011. Celebrating his 35th birthday on the day of the race, Vettel became the first driver to score points on his birthday since Max Verstappen at the 2018 Russian Grand Prix. He became the first to score points on his 35th birthday since Derek Warwick at the 1989 Belgian Grand Prix.

2022 Austrian Grand Prix

Sebastian Vettel recorded his first Q1 exit at the Red Bull Ring. With his fastest lap time deleted for exceeding track limits, this was the first time Vettel has set the slowest time in qualifying since the 2019 German Grand Prix. This is the first time in his career that Vettel recorded Q1 exits at three consecutive races.

In the race, Vettel finished in 17th place for the third time in his career. He also finished 17th in last year’s Austrian Grand Prix and the 2008 Turkish Grand Prix.

On Sunday, Vettel became the first driver to finish the Dutch Grand Prix having started 19th on the grid since Hans-Joachim Stuck in 1977.

2022 Italian Grand Prix

After being eliminated in Q1 at Monza for only the second time in his career, Sebastian Vettel was the first driver to retire from the 2022 Italian Grand Prix. He recorded his first non-finish since the Miami Grand Prix. This was his third retirement of the year and his third at the Monza circuit.

Vettel led two laps of the United States Grand Prix, making this the first race which he has led since the 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Vettel’s two laps led takes his total of laps led to 3,501. Vettel becomes only the third driver – after Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher – to have led 3,500 laps in Formula 1.

2022 Mexico City Grand Prix

Sebastian Vettel recorded his first Q1 exit since the Italian Grand Prix and finished the race in a lowly 14th place, ending a streak of three consecutive top eight finishes. This was the first time Vettel failed to score in Mexico since his 2015 retirement.
