?? WEEKEND MILESTONES AND RECORDS
Max Verstappen could set a new record for most Mexican Grand Prix wins for any driver this weekend. He’s currently tied with Jim Clark, Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost on two wins at the track, having won both of the last two races here. A win for the Red Bull driver in 2019 would be a record-breaking third consecutive victory. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton could equal the record of most wins at the track, having previously won the event in 2016.
If a driver other than Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel or Daniel Ricciardo takes pole for the 2019 Mexican Grand Prix, they’ll be the ninth different polesitter here in as many events.
A pole for Daniel Ricciardo would see him become the first driver to take back-to-back poles for the Mexican Grand Prix since Ayrton Senna in 1988 and 1989.
If Max Verstappen leads 53 laps of the 2019 Mexican Grand Prix, he’ll equal Jim Clark’s 52 year old record of most laps led at the event. Clark led 191 laps of the circuit during his career.

2018 RACE RECAP
Daniel Ricciardo took a final pole for Red Bull but team-mate Max Verstappen took victory as Lewis Hamilton secured his fifth Drivers’ Championship.
In an exciting qualifying session, Daniel Ricciardo took pole by just 0.026 seconds from his team-mate; who was far from happy with the result. Lewis Hamilton started from third with the title up for grabs, while Sebastian Vettel started fourth. At the start, Hamilton made a great start as Verstappen assumed the lead and Ricciardo dropped to third. Vettel was last of the leaders to come in for his first pit-stop, emerging behind the leading three drivers once again, but he soon passed Ricciardo for the final podium spot and then slid past Hamilton for second. There were unhappy faces at Force India as Sergio Perez retired from his home Grand Prix for the first time. No sooner had Ricciardo made his way back up to third than his engine gave up and he became another unhappy retirement. With the roles reversed from Saturday, Verstappen emerged as the winner with the Ferrari pair completing the podium. It was Hamilton who took the headlines though, with a fourth place finish being all he needed to be crowned World Champion for a fifth time.

ON THIS DAY
Two previous F1 races have taken place on 27th October. The 1963 Mexican Grand Prix and the 2013 Indian Grand Prix were both held on this day in history, with Sebastian Vettel clinching a fourth consecutive Drivers’ Title at the latter event. Red Bull were also crowned champions for a fourth year in a row in 2013. Both Grands Prix were won from pole position by Jim Clark and Sebastian Vettel respectively, and in both races, the driver who won the title three seasons later finished as runner-up (Jack Brabham in 1963 and Nico Rosberg in 2013).
