
Hamilton becomes a Ferrari Grand Prix winner, Britain fills all of the podium positions for the first time since 1968 and Ferrari becomes the first engine manufacturer to record 250 Grand Prix victories. Here are the facts and statistics from the 2026 Barcelona Grand Prix!
HAMILTON BECOMES A FERRARI GRAND PRIX WINNER
Lewis Hamilton took Grand Prix victory with Ferrari for the first time at the 2026 Barcelona Grand Prix, recording the 106th win of his illustrious career. Hamilton became the 16th driver to win races with three different teams in World Championship history.
At 41 years, 5 months and 7 days old, Hamilton becomes the oldest Grand Prix winner since Jack Brabham at the 1970 South African Grand Prix. He is the seventh oldest winner in the World Championship’s history. All of the six drivers above him in the list were racing in Formula 1 in the 1950s.
This was Hamilton’s seventh win at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, overtaking Michael Schumacher for the most victories at the track. Like Hamilton, Schumacher also recorded his first Grand Prix win with Ferrari at the 1996 Spanish Grand Prix. Hamilton also surpassed Schumacher’s record for most podium finishes at the track. This was his 13th top three result at the circuit.
Hamilton’s win made 2026 the 60th different Formula 1 season in which Ferrari have won a Grand Prix. It was Ferrari’s first victory since Carlos Sainz’s win at the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix.
This was the 250th victory for a Ferrari-powered car. All but one of those wins were recorded by Scuderia Ferrari – the other was Sebastian Vettel’s victory with Toro Rosso at the 2008 Italian Grand Prix.
This was Ferrari’s first victory at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya since Fernando Alonso took his final victory with the team here at the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix.
This was the first time Hamilton recorded three podium finishes in a row since he last won a race, at the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix. It’s the first time he finished in the top two at three successive races since the 2022 United States, Mexico City and Sao Paulo Grands Prix.
Hamilton set the fastest lap of the race. He extended the record for the most consecutive seasons in which a driver has set a fastest lap. He’s set fastest laps in every season since 2010.
Hamilton was voted Driver Of The Day, winning with 51% of the vote – one of the largest margins of victory in the award’s history.
ON THE PODIUM AT THE 2026 BARCELONA GRAND PRIX
George Russell and Lando Norris joined Lewis Hamilton on the podium at the 2026 Barcelona Grand Prix, meaning that all three teams that Hamilton has driven for were represented on the podium at the scene of his first Ferrari win.
Hamilton, Russell and Norris recorded the first all-British podium since the 1968 United States Grand Prix. It was the first time a single nation filled all three places on the podium since the 1983 San Marino Grand Prix, when three French drivers finished in the top three
This was Russell’s first podium finish since the Chinese Grand Prix. He has finished in the top four in all of the last five races at the Catalunya circuit. This was his first podium finish here since 2023.
The 2026 Barcelona Grand Prix marked the first time in his eight appearances at this circuit that Russell has finished in a worse position than where he started.
After two successive retirements, Norris returned to the podium at the 2026 Barcelona Grand Prix with a third place finish.
2026 is the third year in a row that Norris has finished on the podium at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. He remains yet to win a Grand Prix at the track.
IN THE POINTS
Oscar Piastri finished fifth for the second race weekend in a row.
Isack Hadjar finished sixth and scored points for the third Grand Prix in a row, equalling the longest points-scoring streak of his career so far.
With seventh place in the 2026 Barcelona Grand Prix, Pierre Gasly scored points for the sixth time in the seven races so far this year.
Gasly recorded the best-ever result for a driver starting from 14th on the grid at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Finishing eighth in the 2026 Barcelona Grand Prix, Liam Lawson scored points for the fifth time in the last six races.
Arvid Lindblad followed his team-mate home in ninth place, recording points finishes at consecutive races for the first time in his career.
Scoring on his first F1 appearance at the track, Lindblad joined Hadjar as one of only two current drivers with a 100% points rate at the Catalunya circuit.
This was the first double points finish for the Red Bull junior team at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya since the 2017 Spanish Grand Prix.
Franco Colapinto finished eighth on the road but was dropped to tenth following a post-race penalty in the final classification. It was his fourth points-scoring appearance of the season.
This was the fifth time in the last five years that both Alpine drivers scored points at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
THE OTHER FINISHERS
Carlos Sainz’s 12th place finish marked the best result for a Williams driver at Catalunya since Lance Stroll finished 11th in the 2018 Spanish Grand Prix.
Esteban Ocon finished 13th, remaining in the small group of drivers who’ve finished every race so far this year. After the Barcelona Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton and Franco Colapinto are the only other drivers yet to record a retirement in 2026.
Finishing 14th in the 2026 Barcelona Grand Prix, Sergio Perez recorded the best result to date for the Cadillac team in their maiden Formula 1 season.
THE RETIREES
This was the first time Leclerc recorded retirements in consecutive races since his maiden season, at the 2018 Japanese and United States Grands Prix.
On the weekend that he overtook Nigel Mansell for the most race starts with Williams, Alex Albon failed to finish a race for the third time this season. After spending considerable time in the pit lane while dealing with an onboard camera issue, he was not classified in the final result.
Kimi Antonelli’s run of five successive race wins came to an end with his first retirement since the 2025 British Grand Prix.
This was the second year in a row that Antonelli failed to finish at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Aston Martin recorded their third double DNF of the 2026 season. Fernando Alonso recorded his fourth retirement of the season, while Lance Stroll was not classified for the fifth time this year.
This was Alonso’s first DNF at his home race since the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix.
Ollie Bearman retired for the second race in a row. This was the first DNF for a Haas driver at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya since Romain Grosjean failed to finish the 2018 Spanish Grand Prix.
Nico Hulkenberg recorded his third non-finish of the season. It was his first DNF at Catalunya since 2018.
Valtteri Bottas failed to finish the 2026 Barcelona Grand Prix. Having also retired last time out in Monaco, this was the first time Bottas recorded retirements at successive races since the 2023 Singapore and Japanese Grands Prix.
This was Bottas’ first DNF in Barcelona since 2017.
