2025 Singapore Grand Prix: Qualifying Statistics

Russell takes Mercedes’ first Singapore pole since 2018, Verstappen remains yet to take pole at Marina Bay and Sainz misses out on Q3 in Singapore for the first time in seven years. Here are the facts and statistics from qualifying at the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix!

RUSSELL ON POLE AT THE 2025 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX

George Russell took pole position for the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix, securing the seventh pole position of his career. He is the 42nd driver to have taken as many as seven poles in Formula 1, equalling Jacques Laffite on the all-time list.

Russell secured Mercedes’ first pole position at the Singapore Grand Prix since 2018.

This was Russell’s second pole position of the season, after the Canadian Grand Prix.

Russell is the fourth different Singapore Grand Prix polesitter in the last four years. It’s the second time, after 2023, that he has qualified on the front row here.

This was the sixth pole position for a British driver at the Singapore Grand Prix. Britain overtakes Germany as the nation with the most poles at the circuit.

Russell set a new Track Record at Marina Bay Street Circuit with his pole position lap time of 1:29.158. It was almost four tenths faster than Lando Norris’ previous record, with which he took pole in 2024.

Mercedes equalled Ferrari as the most successful engine manufacturer in qualifying at the Singapore Grand Prix. This was the seventh pole for a Mercedes-powered car in Singapore.

IN THE TOP TEN

Marina Bay Street Circuit remains one of only two circuits on the F1 calendar at which Max Verstappen has never taken pole position. He qualified second for the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix, recording his fourth front row qualification at the track.

Oscar Piastri out-qualified his team-mate at the Singapore Grand Prix for the first time in his three Marina Bay appearances. Qualifying third, this was the first time Piastri qualified on the front two rows at the circuit.

Kimi Antonelli qualified in fourth place for a second consecutive race, equalling his second-best Grand Prix qualifying result of the season.

Ollie Bearman qualified ninth for the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix, recording Haas’ first Q3 appearance since the British Grand Prix.

2025 is the fourth season in a row that Haas have seen at least one of their drivers reach Q3 in Singapore.

Isack Hadjar qualified eighth for the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix, reaching Q3 for the fifth time in the last six races.

For the third year in a row, Fernando Alonso reached Q3 at the Singapore Grand Prix while his team-mate was eliminated in Q1. Alonso reached Q3 for the fourth time in the last five races.

Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris and Liam Lawson all maintained their 100% Q3 appearance record at the Singapore Grand Prix. Kimi Antonelli, Isack Hadjar and Ollie Bearman joined them in the group, of which Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg are the only other members.

ELIMINATED IN Q2

Nico Hulkenberg remains yet to reach Q3 this season. He qualified 11th for the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix – his best qualifying result of the season to date.

Of his appearances at the Singapore Grand Prix, this was the first time since 2015 that he did not qualify in the top ten. It’s the fourth time he has qualified 11th here.

Hulkenberg became the first Sauber driver to make it out of Q1 since 2022. Esteban Gutierrez, in 2013, remains the last Sauber driver to reach Q3 at the Singapore Grand Prix.

With both Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz eliminated in Q2 at the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix, 2015 remains the last time that a Williams driver reached Q3 in Singapore.

For the first time since 2018, Sainz missed out on a place in Q3 at the Singapore Grand Prix.

Yuki Tsunoda made this the third year in a row that at least one Red Bull driver failed to reach Q3 at the Singapore Grand Prix.

OUT IN Q1

With Gabriel Bortoleto recording his first Q1 exit since the British Grand Prix, Nico Hulkenberg won the qualifying battle at Sauber for the first time since the Canadian Grand Prix, ending a streak of seven wins for Bortoleto.

Lance Stroll was eliminated in Q1 at the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix, qualifying in 17th place. This was his sixth Q1 exit from seven appearances at Marina Bay Street Circuit.

Alpine recorded a double Q1 exit for the third race in a row. It marked the first time that the Enstone team saw both of their cars out in Q1 at three races in a row since the 2016 Canadian, European and Austrian Grands Prix. It’s also the team’s first double Q1 exit in Singapore since 2016.

This was Pierre Gasly’s third consecutive Q1 exit. It’s his longest run of Q1 eliminations since the start of the 2024 season. The Singapore Grand Prix is also the third event in a row for which he has qualified on the back row of the grid – the longest such run in his career.

Esteban Ocon was eliminated in Q1 for the fourth time in the last five races. Setting the 19th fastest time, this was Ocon’s first back row qualification since the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, as well as the first time he qualified on the back row in Singapore since his maiden season in 2016.

Ocon’s 19th place is the worst-ever qualifying result for a Haas driver at the Singapore Grand Prix.
