Your 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix Predictions: The Results

Did you predict a Verstappen win? Or another podium finish for Lewis Hamilton? How many of your pre-race predictions for the 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix were correct? Find out below!

1. WILL VERSTAPPEN OR LECLERC SCORE MORE POINTS?

YOUR PREDICTION: LECLERC

CORRECT ANSWER: VERSTAPPEN

Despite Charles Leclerc starting third and Max Verstappen starting tenth, Verstappen outscored Leclerc by 17 points. Leclerc’s strategy did not pay off, while Verstappen fought his way through the pack to take victory.

2. WILL HAMILTON FINISH ON THE PODIUM?

YOUR PREDICTION: NO

CORRECT ANSWER: YES, IN 2ND PLACE

Lewis Hamilton finished on the podium for a fifth consecutive race. He finished as runner-up to Max Verstappen, around seven seconds off the lead after a strong final sector in the race.

3. WILL ANYONE OTHER THAN RED BULL, FERRARI OR MERCEDES FINISH ON THE PODIUM?

YOUR PREDICTION: NO

CORRECT ANSWER: NO

The podium positions were taken by Mercedes and Red Bull, with the three teams listed above filling all of the top six positions. Lando Norris was best of the rest, finishing in seventh place.

4. WILL WET OR INTERMEDIATE TYRES BE USED?

YOUR PREDICTION: YES, IN QUALI

CORRECT ANSWER: NOT IN EITHER

Only slick tyres were used in qualifying and the race. There was wet weather on both Saturday and Sunday, but the track dried before the all-important sessions. Wet tyres were used in Free Practice 3 – a session in which Nicholas Latifi topped the timesheet for the first time in his F1 career.

5. WHERE WILL MAGNUSSEN FINISH?

YOUR PREDICTION: 9th OR 10th

CORRECT ANSWER: OUTSIDE THE TOP 10

Kevin Magnussen’s race was curtailed by damage in the early stages, which necessitated a pit stop. He switched to the hard tyres, but was unable to make a one-stop strategy work. He ultimately made three stops on his way to 16th.
