2023 DUTCH GRAND PRIX

Liam Lawson made his debut Formula 1 appearance at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, replacing the injured Daniel Ricciardo. He set the slowest qualifying lap time, qualifying 20th. Lawson impressed on his race debut in challenging conditions. He finished 13th – ahead of team-mate Yuki Tsunoda. Lawson’s debut made him the first driver born in 2002 to race in Formula 1 and the first New Zealand driver since Brendon Hartley at the 2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Racing in car number 40, Lawson made the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix the first F1 race to feature car number 40 since the 2017 Hungarian Grand Prix, when Paul di Resta made a one-off appearance with Williams.

2023 ITALIAN GRAND PRIX

Liam Lawson reached Q2 for the first time in his Formula 1 career and 11th on his second Formula 1 outing. The result saw him move ahead of both Nyck de Vries and Daniel Ricciardo in the Drivers’ Championship.

2023 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX

Liam Lawson reached Q3 for the first time in his Formula 1 career at the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix. In his three appearances so far, he has recorded a Q1 exit, a Q2 elimination and a Q3 appearance. Lawson’s Q3 appearance made this the seventh time in the last nine Singapore Grand Prix weekends that at least one of the Red Bull junior team’s drivers qualified in the top ten. This was the AlphaTauri team’s first Q3 appearance since the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix.

Lawson finished ninth in the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix, scoring points for the first time in his Formula 1 career on his third attempt. He is the 173rd driver to score within his first three World Championship appearances and the first to pick up points for the first time on his third appearance since Nico Hulkenberg at the 2010 Malaysian Grand Prix. Lawson’s point ensured that the Red Bull junior team scored for the seventh time from their last eight Singapore Grand Prix appearances.

2023 JAPANESE GRAND PRIX

Liam Lawson finished where he started in 11th place, making the 2023 Japanese Grand Prix the first race in which he did not finished in a better position than where he started.

2023 QATAR GRAND PRIX

Liam Lawson recorded AlphaTauri’s first Q1 exit since he qualified last on debut at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix. In the race, he finished behind team-mate Yuki Tsunoda for the first time.
