Haas first to reveal 2020 F1 car

Haas become the first team to reveal images of their 2020 Formula 1 car, the VF-20.

Haas have become the first team to show their colours for 2020 with a digital rendering of the VF-20 revealed on their social media channels. The team revert back to a similar livery as used on their first three cars. The livery is described as a “contemporary restyling of a familiar theme.” Team owner Gene Haas is hoping 2020 will mark a return to form for his team after a tough 2019 campaign:

Frankly, I’m hoping the VF-20 will return us to the kind of form we ran in 2018 when we finished fifth in the constructors’ championship. 2019 was a tough season to endure. We’ve been through a real education process, one that comes to all Formula One teams at some stage. I’m trusting we’ve learned from those lessons and have applied that knowledge into making the VF-20 a more competitive entry. It’s important to me that we’re back in the mix and consistently scoring points, we certainly have the capability and we’ve proved as an organization we can do it.”

Haas have an unchanged line-up in 2020, with Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen entering their fourth year together as team-mates. Last year, the pair picked up only 28 points and placed a worst-ever ninth in the Constructors’ Championship. Magnussen recorded their best result with sixth place in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. It was a difficult season off-track too, with former team sponsor Rich Energy dominating the headlines with their owner’s antics. Read more: Haas’ 2019 F1 Season In Stats.

The VF-20 will make its first physical appearance on the opening morning of testing. The next car launch will be Ferrari, on Tuesday 11th February.
