Red Bull finished on the podium at every Singapore Grand Prix between 2010 & 2023 and share the record for most wins with Mercedes, while Ferrari are the only team to record a 1-2 result at the track. Here’s everything you need to know about each team’s history at the Singapore Grand Prix!
RED BULL
WINS: 4, POLES: 2, PODIUMS: 15 | 2024 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX RESULT: VERSTAPPEN 2nd, PEREZ 10th
Sergio Perez recorded Red Bull’s first Singapore Grand Prix victory since 2013 in the rain-hit 2022 race. Red Bull have scored more points in Singapore than any other team and have scored on every visit to the track. They’ve also had more podium finishes here than anyone else, with 14 in total.
With Max Verstappen fifth and Perez eighth in 2023, it was the first Singapore Grand Prix since 2010 in which neither Red Bull driver finished on the podium. Red Bull enjoyed three consecutive wins at the Singapore Grand Prix in 2011, 2012 and 2013. One of their drivers finished as runner-up here for five consecutive seasons between 2014 and 2018, while Max Verstappen finished third in 2019.
The team haven’t taken pole at the Marina Bay Circuit since 2013. 2011 is the only season where Red Bull have locked-out the front row at the track. 2019 was the first season since 2014 that neither Red Bull driver qualified on the front row at the Singapore Grand Prix.
2023 was the first time since 2008 that neither Red Bull driver qualified in the top ten for the Singapore Grand Prix. On both occasions, both drivers were eliminated in Q2.
MERCEDES
WINS: 4, POLES: 3, PODIUMS: 7 | 2024 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX RESULT: RUSSELL 4th, HAMILTON 6th
Mercedes have won the Singapore Grand Prix four times, including in three consecutive years between 2016 and 2018. In 2019, neither Mercedes driver finished on the podium but both finished in the top five.
Mercedes have scored on every visit to Marina Bay Circuit, and finished on the podium with both cars in 2016 and 2017.
The Brackley-based team suffered their worst Singapore Grand Prix result since 2008 in 2022, with Lewis Hamilton finishing ninth and George Russell last of the cars still running at the end of the race. Hamilton returned the team to the podium in 2023, finishing third after Russell crashed out on the final lap.
The team have recorded five DNFs in total here, two as a result of Michael Schumacher crashing out of proceedings in 2011 and 2012, two as a result of electrical failures for Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton in 2014 and 2015 respectively. A Mercedes driver has never finished as runner-up in the Singapore Grand Prix.
Mercedes have taken pole at three Singapore Grands Prix – in 2014, 2016 and 2018. The team held a 100% appearance rate in the final part of qualifying here until 2022, when George Russell missed out on Q3 by qualifying 11th.
2014 is the only season in which Mercedes have locked-out the front row in Singapore, but Rosberg’s car issues saw him starting from the pit-lane that year. Aside from their poles and front row lock-outs, Nico Rosberg started from the front row in 2013, Lewis Hamilton started from the front row in 2019 and George Russell started from the front row in 2023.
FERRARI
WINS: 4, POLES: 7, PODIUMS: 11 | 2024 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX RESULT: LECLERC 5th, SAINZ 7th
Ferrari became the first team to record a 1-2 finish at the Singapore Grand Prix in 2019, with Charles Leclerc taking victory. Ferrari have won at the Marina Bay Circuit a further three times, with Fernando Alonso in 2010, Sebastian Vettel in 2015 and Carlos Sainz in 2023.
The team failed to score on their first two visits to the track, but since then 2017 has been the only other year in which they’ve failed to take home points from Singapore. Both Ferraris were eliminated on the first lap that year.
In every year since 2010 every Ferrari car which has reached the end of the race has scored points. The team have taken podiums in eight races at the track, including double podium finishes in 2015, 2019 and 2022.
Ferrari were the first team to take pole position at the Marina Bay Circuit, and have enjoyed starting from the front a further six times since then – including in each of the last three races at the track.
2009 is the only year in which neither Ferrari driver reached the final part of qualifying at this circuit. In addition to Kimi Raikkonen’s Q2 exit and Giancarlo Fisichella’s Q1 exit that year, the team suffered a further Q2 elimination with Felipe Massa in 2012, while he and Vettel were both out in Q1 in 2012 and 2016 respectively with gearbox problems.
McLAREN
WINS: 2, POLES: 3, PODIUMS: 7 | 2024 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX RESULT: NORRIS 1st, PIASTRI 3rd
Lewis Hamilton’s win at the 2009 Singapore Grand Prix is the only time McLaren have taken victory so far at the Marina Bay circuit. In 2023, Lando Norris finished as runner-up, recording the team’s first podium finish at the track since Jenson Button’s second place in 2012.
McLaren have scored in every race at the track except the 2015 event, in which they suffered a double DNF. 2018 marked the first time since 2013 that both McLarens reached the end of the race at the Marina Bay Circuit.
Until 2022, a McLaren driver finished in seventh place at all of the previous four races at the track. In 2022, both Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo finished in the top five, recording the team’s first double top five result at the circuit since 2011. Both McLaren drivers scored again in 2023 – the first time McLaren had successive double points-scoring visits to Singapore.
McLaren have taken two poles at the track in 2009 and 2012, both with Lewis Hamilton at the wheel. Their only other front row qualification here also came courtesy of Hamilton in 2008. Lando Norris’ sixth place in qualifying in 2022 marked the team’s first top six Saturday result at the Singapore Grand Prix since their last pole in 2012. Norris went on to qualify fourth in 2023.
Only three McLaren drivers have recorded a Q1 exit at the Singapore Grand Prix: Stoffel Vandoorne recorded McLaren’s first Q1 exit at the track in 2018, with their worst ever qualifying position at the track of 18th, while Daniel Ricciardo was eliminated in Q1 in 2022 and Oscar Piastri was out in Q1 in 2023.
ASTON MARTIN
WINS: 0, POLES: 0, PODIUMS: 0 | 2024 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX RESULT: ALONSO 8th, STROLL 14th
With Lance Stroll sixth and Sebastian Vettel eighth in 2022, the Silverstone-based team recorded their first finish with both cars in the top eight in Singapore since 2011. It was the first time that the team had scored at the Singapore Grand Prix since they were under their Force India guise in 2017.
The team failed to score here in 2023, with Fernando Alonso 15th and Stroll withdrawing following a heavy crash in qualifying. It was the team’s fifth non-finish in the last seven races at the track. They have never recorded a double retirement here.
The best finish for this team in Singapore came in 2012, when Paul di Resta scored an impressive fourth place result.
Racing Point failed to reach Q3 in 2019, and Lance Stroll recorded the team’s first Q1 exit at the circuit since Paul di Resta in 2013. Neither Aston Martin driver reached Q3 in 2022 either, but both reached Q2. Alonso recorded the team’s first Q3 appearances since 2018 in 2023.
Both cars progressed to Q3 in 2011, 2016 and 2018. Di Resta is also to thank for the team’s best qualifying result so far at this track, taking sixth place in 2012.
ALPINE
WINS: 0, POLES: 0, PODIUMS: 2* | 2024 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX RESULT: OCON 13th, GASLY 17th
The Enstone team won the inaugural World Championship Singapore Grand Prix in 2008 under their Renault guise. Their win came in controversial circumstances in 2008, as Nelson Piquet Jnr was instructed to crash in order to give victory to team-mate Fernando Alonso.
Alonso also finished on the podium in the following season for the team, while Kimi Raikkonen recorded the team’s third and most recent podium finish at the circuit in 2013, under their Lotus guise. The team’s best result since their last podium finish is sixth, recorded by Jolyon Palmer in 2017 and by Pierre Gasly in 2023.
Renault scored points in Singapore in all of the last four races at the Marina Bay Street Circuit prior to 2022, but the team recorded their first double retirement at the venue on their first appearance as Alpine in 2022.
Team Enstone’s best qualifying result at the Singapore Grand Prix is third place, recorded by Romain Grosjean in 2013. Fernando Alonso recorded their second top five qualification at the circuit with fifth place in 2022.
The team has reached Q3 with at least one car in all of the last five races at the circuit. In addition to Nico Hulkenberg’s ninth place in 2019, Daniel Ricciardo had qualified eighth – giving the team their first ever double Q3 appearance at the Marina Bay Circuit – but he was disqualified from the result having exceeded the MGU-K power limit in Q1.
Team Enstone suffered their only double Singapore Q1 exit in 2016.
WILLIAMS
WINS: 0, POLES: 0, PODIUMS: 1 | 2024 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX RESULT: COLAPINTO 11th, ALBON DNF
Nico Rosberg scored Williams’ best result so far in the Singapore Grand Prix at the very first race in 2008, where he finished as runner-up to Fernando Alonso. Since then, Williams have appeared in the top five only twice, in 2014 and 2015 with Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas each finishing fifth.
2008 and 2010 are the only seasons where both Williams drivers have finished in the points at the Marina Bay track. The team has not scored a point here since 2017. George Russell recorded Williams’ fifth retirement at the circuit in 2019 after a collision with Romain Grosjean and both drivers retired from the 2022 race. It marked the team’s second double DNF at the Singapore Grand Prix. Both drivers also retired in 2012.
Williams suffered double Q1 exits in all of the four Singapore Grands Prix held between 2017 and 2022. In qualifying for the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix, Alex Albon became the first Williams driver to make it out of Q1 at Marina Bay Street Circuit since 2016.
Before their streak of double Q1 exits, Williams’ only other Q1 exit here had been for Pastor Maldonado in 2013. Maldonado is also to thank for Williams’ only front row appearance in Singapore, having qualified in second in 2012. A Williams driver hasn’t qualified in the top ten for the Singapore Grand Prix since 2015.
VISA CASH APP RB
WINS: 0, POLES: 0, PODIUMS: 0 | 2024 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX RESULT: TSUNODA 12th, RICCIARDO 18th
The former Toro Rosso team have scored at seven of the last eight Singapore Grand Prix weekends. A four year streak of points-scoring appearances at the track ended in 2018, with the team now on a three-race streak of points which began in 2019.
The team have had two appearances in the top five here, with Sebastian Vettel finishing fifth in 2008 and Carlos Sainz taking fourth in 2017.
Daniil Kvyat’s in 2017 and Yuki Tsunoda’s in both 2022 and 2023 are the only times that the team have failed to finish here in the last eight Singapore races, while the team recorded their only double non-finish at the track in 2009.
In 2022, the Red Bull junior team recorded their second double Q3 appearance at the Singapore Grand Prix. They had previously done so in 2016. Carlos Sainz recorded the team’s best qualifying showing so far at the track in 2016, with sixth on the grid.
Their double Q3 appearance in 2022 marked the team’s first Q3 appearance in Singapore since 2017. The team have had only four Q1 exits at the circuit, including one in each of the two Singapore races prior to 2022.
SAUBER
WINS: 0, POLES: 0, PODIUMS: 0 | 2024 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX RESULT: ZHOU 15th, BOTTAS 16th
From their 26 entries at the track, the Sauber-owned team have scored only 12 points, with their best finish coming at the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix. Sixth place for Nick Heidfeld in 2008 is the team’s best result so far, and they have never finished higher than eighth since then.
The team have suffered two double DNFs at the track, in 2010 and 2014. After leading the race for a while, Antonio Giovinazzi finished tenth in 2019 in the team’s first appearance as Alfa Romeo. It’s the only time this team has scored in the last six races at the track.
One Alfa Romeo driver has retired from proceedings at all of the last three Singapore Grand Prix weekends.
In the last 11 Singapore races, Esteban Gutiérrez, who qualified tenth in 2013, is the only one of the team’s drivers to have reached the final part of qualifying at this circuit.
Robert Kubica’s fourth place on the grid in 2008 is Sauber’s best qualifying result here, while 2008 and 2009 are the only years that both cars have appeared in Q3. The team have recorded double Q1 exits in 2015, 2017 and 2023.
HAAS
WINS: 0, POLES: 0, PODIUMS: 0 | 2024 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX RESULT: HULKENBERG 9th, MAGNUSSEN DNF
Romain Grosjean’s ninth place finish in the 2017 Singapore Grand Prix and Kevin Magnussen’s tenth place in the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix are the only times that a Haas car has scored so far at Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Haas have recorded non-finishes here twice, with Magnussen retiring from the 2017 race, while Grosjean failed to even make the start of the 2016 Singapore Grand Prix.
In both 2018 and 2019, Magnussen has set the fastest lap of the Singapore Grand Prix.
The Haas team’s best qualifying result at the Singapore Grand Prix is sixth place, recorded by Kevin Magnussen in 2023. 2023 marked the team’s first double Q3 appearance in Singapore. Haas also recorded Q3 appearances with Romain Grosjean in 2018 and Magnussen in 2022.
2022 was the first time since the team’s first appearance in 2016 that neither Haas driver exited in Q1 at the Singapore Grand Prix. The team is yet to record a double Q1 exit at the track.
