Piastri takes back-to-back wins for the first time in his career, Leclerc equals Alonso’s tally of Ferrari podiums and Verstappen overtakes Vettel in the all-time points list. Here are the facts and statistics from the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix!

PIASTRI WINS THE 2025 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX

Oscar Piastri won the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, taking the fifth Grand Prix victory of his career. Piastri now has the same number of Grand Prix wins as McLaren team-mate Lando Norris. He is the 57th driver to record as many as five wins in Formula 1.

Piastri is the fourth different driver to win the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, after Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

Piastri secured consecutive Grand Prix wins for the first time in his career. He became the first driver to take consecutive wins in 2025 and the first to do so during a single season since Max Verstappen at the 2024 Canadian and Spanish Grands Prix. Piastri became the first driver to win three races this year.

Piastri finished on the podium for a fourth consecutive race – the longest podium streak to date in his career.

McLaren became the third different team to win the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, after Mercedes and Red Bull. This was the first time since 2021 that Red Bull did not win in Jeddah.

Jeddah Corniche Circuit is the 50th different circuit at which McLaren have taken a victory. They are the first team to reach that milestone.

Piastri crossed the finish line for a 33rd consecutive race. He equals Nick Heidfeld and Lewis Hamilton for the fourth-longest finishing streak in Formula 1 history.

This was the first time that a race was not won by the polesitter since the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix. It was only the second time, after 2022, that the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was not won by the polesitter.

PIASTRI LEADS THE CHAMPIONSHIP

For the first time in his career, Oscar Piastri leads the Drivers’ Championship after the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Piastri is the first Australian driver to lead the World Championship since Mark Webber after the 2010 Japanese Grand Prix.

This is the first time that two different McLaren drivers have led the championship at consecutive races since Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton did so at the 2007 Monaco and Canadian Grands Prix.

ON THE PODIUM

Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc joined Oscar Piastri on the podium at the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Verstappen finished on the podium for the 115th time in his career and maintained his record of finishing on the podium at every Saudi Arabian Grand Prix to date.

With the points he scored in the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen overtook Sebastian Vettel for second on the list of most points scored in Formula 1 history, with Verstappen now on 3,110.5 compared to Vettel’s 3,098.

Verstappen was voted F1 Driver of the Day for the 41st time in his career.

Charles Leclerc recorded his 44th podium finish, moving ahead of Jackie Stewart to 20th on the all-time list of most top three finishes in Formula 1.

Leclerc equalled Fernando Alonso for fifth on the list of most podium finishes with Ferrari. It was his third podium finish at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

This was Leclerc’s first podium finish since the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as well as the first time since then that he has finished a race in a better position than where he started.

With ninth place, Alex Albon scored points at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix for the first time in his career.

Picking up a single point for a tenth place finish, Isack Hadjar scored for the second time in his career and for the second time in the last three Grands Prix.

THE OTHER FINISHERS

Finishing 11th in the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso remains yet to score a point in the 2025 season. This is the first time that Alonso has failed to score a point in the first five races of a season in which he has competed since 2017.

It was a point-less evening for Haas but Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman are both yet to lose a position from where they have started in any Grand Prix in 2025.

This was the first time since their double DNF in 2021 that Haas failed to score a point in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Finishing 13th, Ollie Bearman became the first driver to start 15th and fail to score a point at Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

14th place is Ocon’s worst result to date at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix – but he gained five places in the race, equalling his best for most places gained at the track.

Finishing 15th, Nico Hulkenberg finished outside of the top 12 for the first time in his four Saudi Arabian Grand Prix appearances.

Finishing 16th, Lance Stroll continued his record of never scoring a point in Saudi Arabia. This was the first time he completed the Jeddah race since 2022, having retired in the previous two seasons.

Jack Doohan finished 17th in the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix – his worst result to date in a race which he has completed.

Gabriel Bortoleto finished in 18th place for a second consecutive race weekend.

This was the fourth year in a row that the Sauber team failed to score a point at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

THE RETIREES

A collision between Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda brought out the Safety Car on the first lap of the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. They were the only drivers to retire from the race.

Gasly became the first driver to record a first lap retirement at Jeddah Corniche Circuit. Tsunoda retired at the start of the second lap, making it back to the pit lane before being pushed into the garage.

2025 is the second season in a row that Gasly has failed to finish the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Tsunoda recorded his first retirement since the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix, which was also the result of a first lap incident.

Tsunoda remains yet to score a point in any of his five appearances at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Tsunoda became the first Red Bull driver to record a DNF at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix since Sergio Perez in 2021.
