Verstappen becomes Vegas’ first repeat winner, McLaren record their first-ever double disqualification and both Mercedes drivers finish on the Las Vegas podium for the second year in a row. Here are the facts and statistics from the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix!
VERSTAPPEN WINS THE 2025 LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX
Max Verstappen won the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix, recording the 69th win of his Formula 1 career. Verstappen became the first driver to record multiple wins at Las Vegas Strip Circuit, while Red Bull became the first team to win on multiple occasions at the track.
This was Verstappen’s sixth win of the season, putting him one away from equalling Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri for the most victories in 2025.
For the 33rd time, Verstappen won having not started from pole position. He equalled Alain Prost for third place on the list of most races won from a position other than pole.
This being Verstappen’s second podium finish at Las Vegas Strip Circuit, he has now recorded multiple top three finishes at every venue on the current calendar.
This was Verstappen’s eighth consecutive podium finish.
This was Verstappen’s eighth victory in the United States, making him only the third driver – after Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton – to have won in a single country on as many as eight occasions.
Verstappen also recorded the fastest lap of the race, making this the first time that a team other than McLaren set the fastest lap in Las Vegas since it returned to the F1 calendar in 2023.
Leading every lap of the race, Verstappen overtook George Russell for the most laps led at Las Vegas Strip Circuit. This was the 18th Grand Prix which Verstappen led from start to finish – one away from equalling Ayrton Senna for second place on the all-time list.
McLAREN DISQUALIFIED
Lando Norris finished second and Oscar Piastri finished fourth in the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix. However, both McLaren drivers were disqualified from the race for having excessive plank wear.
This was the first time either driver recorded a disqualification in their Formula 1 career, as well as the first time in history that both McLaren drivers were disqualified in the same race. It was the first disqualification for a McLaren driver since Lewis Hamilton was excluded from the 2009 Australian Grand Prix.
This was the first time since the 2023 Canadian Grand Prix that McLaren failed to score any points in a Grand Prix, ending a streak of 59 consecutive points-scoring appearances – the sixth longest such streak in F1 history and five away from equalling their personal best.
Norris’ disqualification ended a run of four consecutive podium finishes for the British driver.
ON THE PODIUM
Following McLaren’s disqualification, George Russell and Kimi Antonelli joined Max Verstappen on the podium at the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Verstappen and Russell became the first drivers to record multiple podium finishes in Las Vegas. Russell is the first driver to record successive top three results here.
Mercedes’ double podium finish makes them the team with the most top three finishes at Las Vegas Strip Circuit, having previously been tied with Red Bull and Ferrari. This was the second year in a row that the team saw both drivers finish on the podium.
Russell’s podium was the 800th top three finish for a British driver in Formula 1.
This was Russell’s 14th consecutive points finish.
The two Mercedes drivers finished on the podium together for the second time this year, after the Canadian Grand Prix.
Antonelli recorded podium finishes at consecutive races for the first time in his career.
IN THE POINTS
Charles Leclerc finished fourth in the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix, maintaining his record of never finishing outside of the top four at the circuit.
This was the first Las Vegas Grand Prix in which neither Ferrari driver finished on the podium. Ferrari and Mercedes are the only teams to score points with both cars in all three races at the track to date.
With fifth place, Carlos Sainz recorded his first top five result since his podium finish at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Sainz is yet to finish outside of the top six in Las Vegas.
This was the first time Williams scored points at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Finishing sixth, Isack Hadjar recorded the third top six finish of his career at the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix. He recorded Racing Bulls’ best result to date at the circuit.
Nico Hulkenberg finished seventh – his best result to date at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, bettering his eighth place from 2024.
Hulkenberg became the first Sauber driver to score a point in Las Vegas.
Lewis Hamilton gained 11 positions during the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix, equalling his personal best for most places gained in a Grand Prix so far this year. He also made up 11 positions in the Belgian Grand Prix.
Hamilton is the only driver to have gained places in all three Las Vegas races to date.
Both Haas drivers scored points in the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix, with Esteban Ocon finishing ninth and Ollie Bearman tenth. This was the second time that both drivers have scored in the last three races.
This was the fifth consecutive race in which Bearman scored a point. He has the third-longest active scoring streak of any driver, behind only George Russell and Max Verstappen.
THE OTHER FINISHERS
Fernando Alonso finished 11th at the Las Vegas Grand Prix for the second year in a row. It was also the second year in a row that Aston Martin failed to score points in Las Vegas.
Finishing 12th, Yuki Tsunoda became the first Red Bull driver to fail to score a point at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Pierre Gasly finished 13th in the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix, making him one of only two drivers – along with Alex Albon – to have appeared in all three Las Vegas races to date but have never scored a point.
THE RETIREES
A collision between Lance Stroll and Gabriel Bortoleto brought their races to an end on the opening lap. This was Bortoleto’s fifth retirement of the season. Having also retired in Brazil, he recorded consecutive DNFs for the first time in his career.
Prior to his first lap retirement, Stroll had completed every previous racing lap at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. He moves out of a group of drivers who’ve completed every lap to date in Las Vegas, which now has seven members.
Alex Albon was the third and final driver to retire from the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix. This is the second year in a row that he retired from the race.
