
Verstappen equals Vettel on the Red Bull pole list, Red Bull equal Lotus on the all-time poles list and Norris is out-qualified by a team-mate at Silverstone for the first time. Here are the facts and statistics from qualifying at the 2025 British Grand Prix!
VERSTAPPEN ON POLE AT THE 2025 BRITISH GRAND PRIX
Max Verstappen secured pole position for the 2025 British Grand Prix. This was Verstappen’s 44th pole position with Red Bull, equalling Sebastian Vettel as the driver who has taken the most pole positions with the team in Formula 1. He also equalled Vettel for fourth on the list of most poles with a single team.
This was Verstappen’s fourth pole position of the season – his first since the Miami Grand Prix. It was Verstappen’s third pole in the last five years at the British Grand Prix.
Verstappen is the sixth driver to have taken as many as three pole positions at Silverstone and he is only the second non-British driver, after Fernando Alonso, to do so.
The 2025 British Grand Prix marked Red Bull’s 107th pole position, equalling Lotus for fifth on the list of most pole positions for a team in Formula 1.
This was Red Bull’s sixth pole position in total at Silverstone.
IN THE TOP TEN
Setting the second fastest time, Oscar Piastri qualified on the front row for the first time since taking pole position at the Spanish Grand Prix. This was the sixth consecutive race at which he qualified in the top three.
With Lando Norris qualifying third, the British driver was out-qualified by a team-mate for the first time in his eight visits to Silverstone.
Norris and Piastri maintained their 100% Q3 appearance rate at Silverstone, with Kimi Antonelli and Ollie Bearman joining them in the club of which Ralf Schumacher, Jacques Villeneuve and Juan Pablo Montoya are the only other members.
Qualifying fifth for the 2025 British Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton qualified in the top five for a fifth consecutive race. He’s yet to qualify in the top three in conventional qualifying in 2025.
Charles Leclerc was out-qualified by Ferrari team-mate Hamilton for the third time in the last four races.
Ollie Bearman became the first Haas driver to reach Q3 since the Monaco Grand Prix, recording the team’s fourth Q3 appearance of the season. In total, this was the team’s fifth Q1 appearance at Silverstone.
Bearman recorded his best qualifying result of the season with eighth place, but will start 18th due to a 10-place grid penalty for a red flag infringement during final practice.

Fernando Alonso qualified ninth for the 2025 British Grand Prix, reaching Q3 for the fifth time in the last six races.
Pierre Gasly reached Q3 for the seventh time this season, qualifying tenth for the second race weekend in a row.
ELIMINATED IN Q2
For the first time since the Miami Grand Prix, neither of the Racing Bulls drivers reached Q3 at the 2025 British Grand Prix, ending a five race streak of Q3 appearances. This was the fifth season in a row that the team has failed to reach Q3 at Silverstone.
For the first time this year, Williams missed out on a spot in Q3 at two consecutive races. This was the team’s first double Q2 exit since the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix. This was the first time since the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix in 2020 that neither Williams driver reached Q3 at Silverstone.
With 14th place, Alex Albon recorded his second-worst qualifying result of the season so far – his only worse being 16th place at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Carlos Sainz out-qualified Albon for the first time since the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. It was the first time since the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix that he failed to reach Q3 at Silverstone.
With Yuki Tsunoda exiting in Q2 at the 2025 British Grand Prix, this was the third year in a row that only one Red Bull driver progressed to Q3 at Silverstone.
This was the sixth race in a row at which Tsunoda failed to qualify in the top ten. Tsunoda remains yet to reach Q3 in any of his five visits to Silverstone.
Qualifying 15th, Esteban Ocon failed to qualify in the top ten for a fourth consecutive visit to the British Grand Prix. It was his fifth Q2 exit in his last six visits here.
OUT IN Q1
With Gabriel Bortoleto 17th and Nico Hulkenberg 19th, Sauber recorded their third double Q1 exit of the season at the 2025 British Grand Prix. This was the team’s first double Q1 exit at Silverstone since the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix.
Hulkenberg recorded a back row qualification for the second week in a row. This was his first Q1 exit at Silverstone and the first time he qualified outside of the top 15 at the track.
Qualifying 18th, Lance Stroll exited in Q1 for the third consecutive race weekend. This was his first Q1 exit at the British Grand Prix since 2022.
Crashing out in Q1, Franco Colapinto qualified 20th for the 2025 British Grand Prix. It marked the second time he qualified last this year, after the Monaco Grand Prix.
