2026 United States Grand Prix: Race Statistics, Facts and Trivia

Antonelli takes his ninth win of the season, Verstappen records eight consecutive podiums at COTA and Norris is the only current driver to score points on every visit to Austin. Here are the facts and statistics from the 2026 United States Grand Prix!

ANTONELLI WINS THE 2026 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX

Kimi Antonelli won the 2026 United States Grand Prix, becoming the 40th driver to have recorded as many as nine wins in Formula 1. He equalled Mark Webber, Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc on the all-time list.

Antonelli became the seventh different driver to have taken victory in Austin since it joined the F1 calendar in 2012.

Mercedes became the first team to record six victories at Circuit of The Americas. This was the team’s first victory at the track since Valtteri Bottas won the 2019 United States Grand Prix.

This was Antonelli’s eighth podium finish in the last nine Grands Prix.

ON THE PODIUM

Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen joined Kimi Antonelli on the podium at the 2026 United States Grand Prix. This was the second race in a row that the same three drivers finished on the podium together – the first time it has happened since the 2025 United States and Mexico City Grands Prix.

This was the eighth consecutive race at COTA in which Verstappen finished on the podium. He is only the second driver to record podium finishes on eight successive visits to a track. Lewis Hamilton is the only other driver to have done so, having previously achieved the feat at COTA, Bahrain International Circuit, Silverstone and Yas Marina Circuit.

This was only the second time since 2021, after 2024, that Verstappen did not win the United States Grand Prix. His DNF here in 2016 remains the only time he has not finished in the top four from his 11 visits to COTA.

Verstappen became the second driver, after Antonelli, to record as many as ten podium finishes during the 2026 season.

Verstappen’s podium saw Red Bull become the first team to record 14 podium results at COTA. They remain one top three finish ahead of Mercedes at the track.

Recording his 56th podium finish, Leclerc overtook both Rubens Barrichello and Sebastian Vettel for second on the list of most top three finishes with Ferrari. Only Michael Schumacher now sits ahead of him on the list.

This was Leclerc’s third successive podium finish in Austin.

Leclerc recorded his fourth fastest lap of the season, setting the fastest lap time for a second consecutive Grand Prix.

IN THE POINTS

Lewis Hamilton finished fourth in the 2026 United States Grand Prix. Maintaining his record of being the only driver to have started every race at Circuit of The Americas to date, he also became the first driver to have completed 700 Grand Prix laps at the track.

This was the second year in a row that Hamilton finished fourth at the United States Grand Prix.

Finishing fifth, Lando Norris is now the only current driver to have scored points on every visit to COTA. Ollie Bearman was previously in the group but his retirement from the 2026 United States Grand Prix ended his streak.

With Verstappen finishing on the podium and Isack Hadjar sixth, this was the fifth race in a row at which both Red Bull drivers have scored points. It’s the first time Red Bull have scored points with both cars at five races in a row since doing so between the 2023 Sao Paulo Grand Prix and the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

With eighth place in the 2026 United States Grand Prix, Russell’s win at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix remains the only time in the last four races that he has finished in the top seven positions.

Liam Lawson’s ninth place finish in the 2026 United States Grand Prix means that he has scored points in all but three of the last 14 Grand Prix weekends. Racing Bulls, meanwhile, have scored points in all but one of the last 14 races.

Lawson equalled his best result to date in Austin, having also finished ninth here on his first appearance in 2024.

Pierre Gasly finished tenth in the 2026 United States Grand Prix, scoring a point for only the second time in his eight visits to COTA. A sixth place in 2023 is the only other time he has finished in the top ten here.

This was only the second race of the season, after the Austrian Grand Prix, in which all of the top ten starters went on to score points in the race. It was the first time it has ever happened at COTA.

THE OTHER FINISHERS

Nico Hulkenberg recorded Audi’s sixth 11th place finish of the season.

Arvid Lindblad finished 12th in the 2026 United States Grand Prix. Having finished 15th in Singapore, this was the first time he has failed to scored point at two successive Grands Prix since failing to score at four of the first five races of his F1 career, between the Chinese and Canadian Grands Prix.

Alex Albon’s 17th place finish marked the end of a streak of three successive retirements. This was Albon’s worst result to date at COTA.

With Albon 17th and Carlos Sainz 18th, this was the first time since the Italian Grand Prix that both Williams drivers reached the finish line.

Of races which they have finished this season, this was only the second time, after the Hungarian Grand Prix, that Lance Stroll finished ahead of Aston Martin team-mate Fernando Alonso.

This was only the fourth time in the last 13 Grands Prix that Stroll reached the chequered flag.

Sergio Perez’s 19th place finish in the 2026 United States Grand Prix marked the end of a streak of nine consecutive points-scoring visits to COTA for the Mexican driver.

THE RETIREES

Ollie Bearman recorded his fifth DNF of the 2026 season – his first since the Dutch Grand Prix.

Having finished 26 consecutive races up until his race-ending crash at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Franco Colapinto has now failed to finish three of the last four Grands Prix.

Valtteri Bottas recorded his ninth retirement of the year. This was his eighth DNF in the last 13 Grand Prix weekends. Cadillac have now recorded 14 retirements in their debut season.
