2026 Monaco Grand Prix: Race Statistics, Facts and Trivia

Antonelli records his first Grand Slam, Hamilton equals Senna’s Monaco podium record and the Red Bull junior team scores its first double top six finish since 2021. Here are the facts and statistics from the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix!

ANTONELLI WINS THE 2026 MONACO GRAND PRIX

Kimi Antonelli took victory at the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, becoming the youngest ever winner in the event’s 97 year history.

This was Antonelli’s fifth consecutive victory. He is only the tenth driver in Formula 1 history to record as many as five successive wins. Every previous time a driver has secured five consecutive wins in a season, they have gone on to win that year’s title.

Antonelli is the first driver to win as many as five Grands Prix in a row since Max Verstappen’s nine-race winning streak came to an end at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. He is the 59th driver to reach as many as five Grand Prix wins in total.

Antonelli became the third Italian driver to win the Monaco Grand Prix, after Riccardo Patrese in 1982 and Jarno Trulli in 2004.

Having started from pole, set the fastest lap and led every lap on his way to victory, Antonelli recorded the first Grand Slam of his career. He is the 28th driver to have recorded a Grand Slam in the sport’s history, and the youngest to do so, breaking the previous record set by Max Verstappen at the 2021 Austrian Grand Prix by almost four years.

Antonelli became the first driver to record a Grand Slam at the Monaco Grand Prix since Mika Hakkinen in 1998.

Mercedes recorded their first Monaco Grand Prix victory since Lewis Hamilton’s win in 2019.

This was the 14th victory for a Mercedes-powered car at the Monaco Grand Prix, overtaking Ford Cosworth’s long-standing record of 13 wins at the event.

Antonelli won having finished 18th and last on his first appearance in the principality in 2025.

ON THE PODIUM

Lewis Hamilton and Isack Hadjar joined Kimi Antonelli on the podium at the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix.

This was the first time since 2022 that the top three starters did not finish in the same order as they started in at the Monaco Grand Prix.

This was Hamilton’s eighth podium finish in Monaco, equalling Ayrton Senna’s record for the most top three finishes in the principality.

Hamilton is the only driver in F1 history with more that 100 wins – and his second place finish at the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix made him the first driver to have also stood on the podium in 100 races which he did not win.

Equalling his best result at Ferrari with a second successive second place finish, this was the first time Hamilton finished on the podium at two races in a row since the 2024 Hungarian and Belgian Grands Prix. It was the first time since 2022 that he finished in the top two at two consecutive events.

From the last 11 Monaco Grand Prix weekends, this was the eighth time that a Ferrari driver finished in the runner-up spot.

Isack Hadjar finished in third place, recording the second podium finish of his career after the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix.

This was the first podium finish for a Red Bull driver other than Max Verstappen since Sergio Perez finished on the podium at the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix.

IN THE POINTS

Oscar Piastri finished fourth in the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, finishing in the top four in Monaco for the third year in a row.

Racing Bulls recorded a double top six finish, with Liam Lawson finishing fifth and Arvid Lindblad sixth. Both drivers recorded a career-best result.

This was the first double top six finish for the Red Bull junior team since the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

This was the second year in a row that both Racing Bulls drivers finished in the points in Monaco.

With fifth place, Lawson equalled the Red Bull junior team’s best-ever Monaco Grand Prix result. Sebastian Vettel’s fifth place finish in 2008 is the team’s only other top five result here.

This was Lawson’s fourth top ten finish in the last five races.

Oscar Piastri and Liam Lawson both maintained their 100% points-scoring rates at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Finishing sixth from 15th on the grid, Arvid Lindblad became the first driver to finish in the top six from 15th on the grid since Cristiano da Matta in 2004.

Pierre Gasly crossed the finish line in third place but a ten second time penalty dropped him to seventh in the final result. This was the fifth time he finished in the points from the six Grands Prix so far this season.

With eighth place, Alex Albon recorded Williams’ best Monaco Grand Prix result since Felipe Massa finished seventh in 2014.

This was Albon’s first top eight result since his seventh place finish at the 2025 Italian Grand Prix. It equalled his best result to date in Monaco, having last finished eighth on his first appearance here in 2019.

Esteban Ocon finished ninth in the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, recording his best result of the season so far. It was his second points-scoring appearance of the year, having finished tenth in the Japanese Grand Prix.

With tenth place, Fernando Alonso scored his and Aston Martin’s first point of the 2026 season at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Alonso gained ten positions over the course of the Monaco Grand Prix – the most places he’s gained in the principality since gaining 18 places in 2010.

THE OTHER FINISHERS

A drive through penalty dropped George Russell down the order in the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, finishing 12th. This was the first time he failed to score a point in a race which he finished since last year’s Monaco Grand Prix, where he finished 11th.

Russell remains yet to finish above fifth place in the Monaco Grand Prix. It was the first time he finished the Monaco Grand Prix in a worse position than where he started.

Sergio Perez crossed the finish line in tenth place at the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix and looked set to record Cadillac’s first ever Formula 1 point – but he was given a post-race time penalty which dropped him to 15th in the final order.

Perez’s 15th place equalled his best result of the year so far. He also finished 15th in the Chinese Grand Prix.

THE RETIREES

This was Sainz’s first DNF since the 2025 Mexico City Grand Prix.

Lando Norris failed to finish the Monaco Grand Prix, retiring with mechanical issues. This was the first time in his career that Norris recorded DNFs at successive races.

This was Norris’ first DNF in Monaco and the first time he finished outside of the top 11 in his seven appearances here.
