ANTONELLI WINS THE 2026 MIAMI GRAND PRIX
For the third race in a row, Kimi Antonelli took victory in the 2026 Miami Grand Prix. Antonelli becomes only the third driver in F1 history, after Damon Hill and Mika Hakkinen, to take all of his first three wins at successive events.
This is the first time an Italian driver has won three Grands Prix in a row since Alberto Ascari took seven successive wins from the 1952 Belgian Grand Prix to the 1953 Argentine Grand Prix.
Antonelli became the fourth different driver to win at Miami International Autodrome, while Mercedes became the third different team to win at the track.
This is Mercedes’ first streak of four consecutive wins since the 2020 season.
Antonelli recorded the 316th podium finish for Mercedes in Formula 1. It saw the team overtake Williams for the third-most podiums for a constructor in the sport’s history. Williams had sat in the top three positions on the list since the 1993 Portuguese Grand Prix.
The 2026 Miami Grand Prix was the first time that a race at Miami International Autodrome was won from the front row of the grid. Antonelli did so despite becoming the first polesitter not to lead at this circuit at the end of the opening lap.
Antonelli is yet to finish below second place in any Grand Prix this season.
This is the first time an Italian driver has led the Drivers’ Championship after successive races since Michele Alboreto led for five races in a row between the 1985 Canadian and German Grands Prix.
ON THE PODIUM
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri joined Kimi Antonelli on the podium at the 2026 Miami Grand Prix. The double podium result for McLaren saw the team overtake Red Bull for the most podium finishes in Miami.
Norris secured his first top three result as the reigning World Champion. This was his best result since winning the 2025 Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
For the first time since the 2025 Italian Grand Prix, Norris recorded the fastest lap of the race.
Recording his third podium finish in Miami, Norris equalled Max Verstappen for the most top three finishes at Miami International Autodrome. This was the third year in a row that Norris finished on the podium in Miami.
Piastri finished on the podium for a second consecutive race, meaning he’s finished on the podium in every Grand Prix he has started so far this season.
