Leclerc wins for the first time in almost two years, Ferrari take a 250th victory and Lawson records the Red Bull junior team’s best-ever Silverstone result. Here are the facts and statistics from the 2026 British Grand Prix!
LECLERC WINS THE 2026 BRITISH GRAND PRIX
Charles Leclerc took victory in the 2026 British Grand Prix, claiming the ninth win of his career. He is the 39th driver to have won as many as nine Grands Prix.
This was Leclerc’s first victory in almost two years, having taken his last at the 2024 United States Grand Prix.
Silverstone is the eighth different circuit at which Leclerc has taken victory.
Leclerc’s victory marked the 250th Grand Prix win for Ferrari engines in Formula 1. They are the first engine manufacturer to reach the milestone.
This was the 15th win for a Ferrari-powered car at Silverstone, setting a new outright record as the most successful engine manufacturer at the track.
This was the first time since 2021 that Leclerc finished the British Grand Prix in a better position than where he started.
Leclerc’s win was the first time he has scored points at Silverstone since 2023, as well as his first podium finish at the track since 2021.
With the race finishing behind the Safety Car, this was the first British Grand Prix won by under a second since 2013.
ON THE PODIUM
George Russell and Lewis Hamilton joined Leclerc on the podium at the 2026 British Grand Prix.
Russell finished in the top two for the third successive race. It was the first time in his career that he has recorded three podium results in a row.
Russell finished on the podium on Mercedes’ 350th Grand Prix appearance. Mercedes were the tenth constructor to reach that milestone.
This was the first time Russell finished in the top four from his nine F1 appearances at Silverstone.
With Leclerc and Hamilton finishing in the top three, Ferrari became the first team to record 60 British Grand Prix podium finishes in the event’s history on the F1 calendar.
This was the first time since 2018 that both Ferrari cars finished on the podium at the British Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton’s third place finish marked a record-extending 16th podium finish at Silverstone. Hamilton has finished on the podium at the track in all but one of the last 12 seasons.
This was Hamilton’s fourth podium finish in the last five races.
IN THE POINTS
Lando Norris was the top-finishing McLaren in the 2026 British Grand Prix, finishing fourth. This was the first time since 2022 that neither McLaren driver finished on the podium at Silverstone.
Isack Hadjar continued a streak of five successive top six finishes at the 2026 British Grand Prix, finishing in fifth place.
At Racing Bulls, Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad equalled their best results of the season to date at the 2026 British Grand Prix, finishing sixth and seventh respectively. The duo finished in the same positions at the Monaco Grand Prix.
2026 is only the third time, after 2014 and 2016, that both of the Red Bull junior team’s drivers have scored points in the British Grand Prix.
Lawson recorded the Red Bull junior team’s best-ever British Grand Prix result.
Lawson has now scored points in all but one of the last eight Grand Prix weekends.
This was Lindblad’s fourth consecutive points-scoring Grand Prix appearance.
With eighth place, Gabriel Bortoleto recorded his best result of the 2026 season to date, as well as Audi’s best Grand Prix result so far in the team’s maiden season.
This was the first time Bortoleto finished in the top eight since the 2025 Italian Grand Prix.
With Franco Colapinto finishing ninth and Pierre Gasly tenth, Alpine saw both cars score points in a Grand Prix for the fourth time this season.
The Miami and Austrian Grands Prix remain the only races so far this year in which Gasly has failed to score a point.
Colapinto became the third driver in the last five years to score points from 19th on the grid at Silverstone.
This was the first double-points-scoring British Grand Prix for Alpine since 2021.
THE OTHER FINISHERS
Oscar Piastri finished 11th in the 2026 British Grand Prix, ending a streak of three successive top five finishes. His last non-points-scoring appearance was also an 11th place result, at the Canadian Grand Prix.
This was the first time that Piastri failed to score a point, or finish in the top four, at the British Grand Prix in his four appearances at the event.
Finishing 14th, Sergio Perez equalled his best result of the year to date. He also finished 14th in the Barcelona Grand Prix.
With 15th place, Kimi Antonelli finished a race in a position outside of the points for the first time since the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where he also finished 15th. His retirement in Barcelona is the only other time he has failed to score this season.
Antonelli set the fastest lap of the race for the sixth time in the last eight race weekends.
This was the first time since the 2021 Mexico City Grand Prix that the polesitter finished a Grand Prix in a position outside of the points.
This was the fourth time in the last five years that only one Mercedes driver has scored a point in the British Grand Prix.
Valtteri Bottas ended a streak of three consecutive retirements with a 16th place finish in the 2026 British Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso finished 18th for a second consecutive race weekend. Of his five finishes this year, three have been in 18th place.
This was the first time since 2017 that Alonso has failed to score a point when racing in the British Grand Prix.
Finishing 19th in the 2026 British Grand Prix, Lance Stroll crossed the finish line for only the third time this year.
The 2026 British Grand Prix was only the second race of the season, after the Miami Grand Prix, in which both Aston Martin drivers reached the chequered flag.
This was the first time since 2019 that neither of the Silverstone-based team’s drivers scored a point in the British Grand Prix. 2019 and 2026 are the only years that the team has failed to score here since 2013.
THE RETIREES
Max Verstappen recorded his third DNF of the year, after China and Monaco. It was his fourth retirement at the British Grand Prix.
This was the third year in a row that only one Red Bull driver scored points at the British Grand Prix. It was the first time a Red Bull driver failed to finish at Silverstone since Verstappen himself crashed out in 2021.
Alex Albon failed to finish a Grand Prix for the fourth time in 2026. It was his first DNF at Silverstone since 2022, ending a three-year run of points finishes at the track.
Nico Hulkenberg failed to finish for the fourth time this year. This was his third retirement in the last six Grand Prix weekends.
Aside from his DNS at the 2020 British Grand Prix, this was the first time Hulkenberg failed to finish at Silverstone in his F1 career.
