2025 Dutch Grand Prix: Qualifying Statistics

Piastri records his fifth pole of the year, Hadjar records a career-best qualifying result and Antonelli does what no Mercedes driver has done since 2012. Here are the facts and statistics from qualifying at the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix!

PIASTRI ON POLE AT THE 2025 DUTCH GRAND PRIX

Oscar Piastri secured pole position for the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix by 0.012 seconds. It was the fifth pole position of his career, making him the 55th driver to record as many as five pole positions in Formula 1.

Piastri became the first driver to record as many as five pole positions in 2025, moving clear of Max Verstappen and Lando Norris at the top of the list. This was Piastri’s first pole since the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix.

Piastri is the 22nd different driver to take pole position at Zandvoort. He secured McLaren’s fifth pole position at the circuit.

Piastri maintained his 100% Q3 appearance rate at the Dutch Grand Prix, having qualified eighth in 2023 and third in 2024.

IN THE TOP TEN

With Lando Norris setting the second fastest time in qualifying for the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix, McLaren became the first team to lock out the front row at Zandvoort since Renault in 1982. It’s the first time McLaren have locked out the front row at the track.

This was McLaren’s 69th front row lockout in Formula 1. That saw them overtake Ferrari for the second-most front row lockouts in F1 history. Only Mercedes are now ahead of them on the list, with 82 front row lockouts.

Norris qualified on the front row at the Dutch Grand Prix for the third year in a row.

Max Verstappen qualified third for the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix – the first time he has not qualified on the front row for his home Grand Prix.

Isack Hadjar recorded a career-best qualifying result of fourth place at the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix. It was the first time he qualified in the top five.

Hadjar’s fourth place marked only the 13th time in his team’s entire history – dating back to its Minardi days – that one of their drivers qualified in the top four.

Both Racing Bulls drivers reached Q3 at the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix. This was the team’s first double Q3 appearance at Zandvoort, as well as the first time that either of the team’s drivers reached Q3 at the track since 2022.

This was the third Grand Prix weekend in a row that Racing Bulls reached Q3 with both cars. It’s the first time that the team have recorded three consecutive double Q3 appearances since the 2021 Turkish, United States and Mexico City Grands Prix.

Qualifying eighth, Liam Lawson qualified in the top eight for the third time in his career.

With fifth place, George Russell qualified in the top six for a seventh consecutive race weekend.

This is the first time since Zandvoort returned to the Formula 1 calendar that neither Mercedes driver qualified in the top four for the Dutch Grand Prix.

Qualifying seventh for the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton returned to Q3 for the first time since the 2025 British Grand Prix. It was the first time since 2022 that Hamilton reached Q3 at Zandvoort.

Carlos Sainz reached Q3 for the first time since the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

This is the third year in a row that at least one Williams driver has reached Q3 at the Dutch Grand Prix.

ELIMINATED IN Q2

Qualifying 11th, Kimi Antonelli failed to reach Q3 for the third race in a row at the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix. He became the first Mercedes driver to not reach Q3 at three consecutive races since Nico Rosberg missed out on Q3 at four races in a row between the 2012 British and Belgian Grands Prix.

This was the third year in a row that a Mercedes driver has exited in Q2 at the Dutch Grand Prix.

Setting the 12th fastest time in Q2, Yuki Tsunoda failed to reach Q3 at the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix. The Belgian Grand Prix remains the only time in the last nine races that Tsunoda has progressed to the top ten shootout.

Tsunoda has exited in Q2 on four of his five Dutch Grand Prix appearances to date.

Tsunoda became the first Red Bull driver to fail to reach Q3 at the Dutch Grand Prix since Sergio Perez in 2021. The Mexican’s Q1 exit is the only other time that a Red Bull driver has not qualified in the top seven at Zandvoort.

Gabriel Bortoleto became the first Sauber driver to progress past Q1 at the Dutch Grand Prix since 2022. He qualified 13th for the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix.

Pierre Gasly missed out on a spot in Q3 for the third consecutive Grand Prix. It’s his longest streak without a Q3 appearance since the 2024 Italian, Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix.

OUT IN Q1

Lance Stroll and Nico Hulkenberg became the first drivers to record ten Q1 exits in the 2025 season.

Hulkenberg remains yet to reach Q3 in his three appearances at the Dutch Grand Prix. This was his first Q1 exit at Zandvoort, having exited in Q2 in the last two seasons.

After crashing midway through the session, Stroll failed to set a lap time in Q1 at the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix. This was his first Q1 exit at Zandvoort and the first time he qualified outside of the top 12 at the track.

Stroll qualified last for the third time this year, after the Japanese and Belgian Grands Prix.

Esteban Ocon became the second driver, after Valtteri Bottas, to record as many as three Q1 eliminations at the Dutch Grand Prix. This was the third year in a row that Ocon has been out in Q1 at the Dutch Grand Prix.

Ocon recorded Q1 exits at consecutive races for the first time since the 2024 British and Hungarian Grands Prix.

Haas recorded their third double Q1 elimination of the season – their first since the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. This was Haas’ first double Q1 exit at the Dutch Grand Prix since 2021.
