2025 Belgian Grand Prix: Race Statistics, Facts and Trivia

Piastri leads home McLaren’s third successive 1-2 result, Verstappen fails to finish on the podium at three races in a row for the first time in six years and Bortoleto records Sauber’s best Spa result since 2010. Here are the facts and statistics from the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix!

PIASTRI WINS THE 2025 BELGIAN GRAND PRIX

Oscar Piastri took victory in the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix, recording the eighth victory of his Formula 1 career. He is the 37th driver to record as many as eight wins in Formula 1.

Piastri led home a McLaren 1-2, which was the team’s sixth 1-2 finish of the season. 2025 becomes the first season since 1988 in which McLaren have recorded as many as six 1-2 results. This was the team’s 55th 1-2 finish in total and their sixth at the Belgian Grand Prix. It was the team’s first 1-2 result at Spa-Francorchamps since 1999.

This was McLaren’s third consecutive 1-2 result. It is the first time the team has scored as many as three consecutive 1-2 finishes since doing so at the 1997 European Grand Prix, the 1998 Australian Grand Prix and the 1998 Brazilian Grand Prix.

Piastri scored points for the 31st race in a row, equalling Max Verstappen for the fourth longest scoring streak in F1 history. Only Piastri, Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have scored points in as many as 31 consecutive Grands Prix.

Piastri leads the Drivers’ Championship for the ninth race in a row. It equals the record for the most races after which an Australian driver has been at the top of the standings. Jack Brabham topped the standings after all nine races during the 1959 season.

ON THE PODIUM

Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc joined Oscar Piastri on the podium at the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix. All three drivers have now won eight Grands Prix during their career.

Lando Norris recorded the 37th podium finish of his career, equalling Riccardo Patrese for 26th on the all-time list of most podiums in Formula 1.

This was Norris’ 37th podium with McLaren, overtaking Kimi Raikkonen for sixth on the list of most top three finishes with the team.

This was Norris’ first top four finish at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Other than his retirement in Canada, this was the first race in 2025 in which Norris finished in a worse position than where he started. It was the fourth year in a row that the Belgian Grand Prix polesitter failed to win the race.

Charles Leclerc recorded the 48th podium result of his career, equalling Gerhard Berger for 18th on the list of most podium finishes.

This was Leclerc’s fifth podium finish of the season – and the third time he has finished third in the last five races. 2025 is the third year in a row that Leclerc has finished third in the Belgian Grand Prix.

IN THE POINTS

Max Verstappen finished fourth in the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix. This was the third consecutive race in which he failed to finish on the podium. It is the first time he has missed out on a top three finish at three races in a row since the 2019 Russian, Japanese and Mexican Grands Prix.

Verstappen made the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix the 200th race weekend at which a Dutch driver scored a point. The Netherlands is the 11th nation to reach that milestone.

George Russell finished fifth in the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix. With Kimi Antonelli finishing outside of the points, this was the first time since 2012 that neither Mercedes driver finished in the top four at Spa.

With sixth place, Alex Albon recorded his best result since finishing fifth at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

Excluding races which he has not finished, this was the first time that Albon finished in a worse position than where he started since the 2024 United States Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton finished seventh in the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix – his first finish outside of the top six since the Miami Grand Prix.

This was Hamilton’s 14th finish at Spa in his career, equalling Sebastian Vettel as the driver who has crossed the finish line on the most occasions at the track. Of his 14 finishes at the track, this was the first time Hamilton finished outside of the top four positions.

Gabriel Bortoleto scored points for the second time in his career, finishing ninth in the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix.

Bortoleto’s ninth place marked the first time that the Sauber team has scored a point at the Belgian Grand Prix since 2018 – as well as the team’s best result at Spa since Kamui Kobayashi finished eighth in 2010.

With tenth place in the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix, Pierre Gasly scored at consecutive races for the first time this season.

This was the first time since 2022 that Gasly scored a point in the Belgian Grand Prix.

THE OTHER FINISHERS

There were no retirements from the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix, with all 20 drivers crossing the finish line. Isack Hadjar was the only driver who was lapped during the race.

For the fourth race in a row, Ollie Bearman finished 11th in the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix. He equalled the record for the most consecutive finishes in a position other than first.

With 12th place, Nico Hulkenberg finished outside of the points for the first time in four races.

Yuki Tsunoda finished 13th at the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix, which marked his 100th Grand Prix start. He is only the sixth driver to reach as many as 100 starts without recording a podium on any of those occasions, after Philippe Alliot, Pierluigi Martini, Adrian Sutil, Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz.

This was the sixth consecutive Grand Prix in which Tsunoda failed to score a point.

Esteban Ocon finished 15th. Of his nine appearances at the Belgian Grand Prix, this was the first time since his first appearance in 2016 that he failed to score points.

This was the seventh consecutive season in which Haas failed to score a point in the Belgian Grand Prix.

Kimi Antonelli finished 16th in the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix. His podium finish at the Canadian Grand Prix is the only time that he has scored points in the last seven Grands Prix.

With Lance Stroll 14th and Fernando Alonso 17th, this was the first Belgian Grand Prix in which the Silverstone-based team failed to score a point since 2008.

Fernando Alonso finished 17th, failing to score a point for the first time since his retirement from the Monaco Grand Prix.

During the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix, Alonso became the driver who has raced the most Grand Prix laps at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, overtaking Kimi Raikkonen, Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel over the course of the race. Alonso’s tally of laps raced here now stands at 626.

With 18th place, Carlos Sainz failed to score a point for the third consecutive race. This is the first time he has failed to score at three consecutive Grands Prix since the 2019 Belgian, Italian and Singapore Grands Prix.

There was no standing start at the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix. It was the first race since the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix which began with a rolling start.
