Most F1 podiums with a single team

At the 2022 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Max Verstappen moved up to third place in the list of most F1 podiums with a single team. Which other driver and team pairings were the most successful in terms of most top three results?

148 – Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes

Lewis Hamilton set a new record for most F1 podiums with a single team at the 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix. As of the 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Hamilton has finished on the podium on 148 occasions with the Mercedes team.

Hamilton’s time at Mercedes has seen him add six World Championships to his tally. The Hamilton-Mercedes partnership has had unparalleled success, with Hamilton holding the record for most F1 podiums with a single team, most pole positions with a single team and most Grand Prix victories with a single team.

116 – Michael Schumacher, Ferrari

Michael Schumacher was the record holder for most F1 podiums with a single team from the 2002 Spanish Grand Prix until the 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix, when his tally of top three finishes with Ferrari was surpassed by Hamilton’s run of podiums with Mercedes.

Schumacher’s time at the Scuderia included 72 victories and 58 pole positions. He took his first podium in red at the 1996 Brazilian Grand Prix and took his last top three result for Ferrari with his final F1 victory over ten years later at the 2006 Chinese Grand Prix.

98 – Max Verstappen, Red Bull

Max Verstappen took third place in the list of most F1 podiums with a single team at the 2022 Azerbaijan Grand Prix by taking his 66^th podium finish with Red Bull. That saw him become the driver to have taken the most top three results with the team, surpassing Sebastian Vettel’s tally.

Verstappen recorded his first podium – and first win – with Red Bull on his first appearance with the team at the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix, having stepped up from Toro Rosso to replace Daniil Kvyat.

Verstappen has piled up podium finishes in recent years. Since the 2019 United States Grand Prix, every time he has crossed the finish line, he has finished in the top three on all but six occasions. Given that Verstappen has signed a contract to remain at Red Bull until the end of the 2028 season, he’s likely to move further up this list in years to come.

65 – Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull

While Verstappen took a single World Championship with his first 65 podium finishes at Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel secured four titles in the same time frame. Vettel dominated Formula 1 in 2011 and 2013, and took the title at the final race of the season in both 2010 and 2012.

Vettel’s time at Red Bull included 38 victories, putting him third in the list of most wins with a single team. He took his first Red Bull podium and victory on his third outing with the team at the 2009 Chinese Grand Prix. His final top three result with the team came at the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix.

Aside from his 65 podium finishes with Red Bull, Vettel is also the only driver to take more than 50 podiums with two different teams. He recorded 55 top three finishes during his six seasons with Ferrari between 2015 and 2020.

63 – Alain Prost, McLaren

Alain Prost broke Jim Clark’s 20-year-old record for most F1 podiums with a single team by taking his 33^rd top three result with McLaren at the 1987 Belgian Grand Prix. The Frenchman would go on to secure 63 podiums with the team in total, recording his last with the team at the 1989 Spanish Grand Prix.
