RUSSELL WINS THE 2026 AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX

George Russell claimed the seventh victory of his Formula 1 career. This was his first victory since the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. He equalled Rene Arnoux and Juan Pablo Montoya for 43rd on the all-time win list.

The Red Bull Ring becomes the first circuit at which Russell has recorded multiple victories in Formula 1. He last won here in 2024.

This was Mercedes’ seventh Austrian Grand Prix victory, equalling McLaren for the most wins at the event. The team also extended their record for most wins at the Red Bull Ring to eight.

ON THE PODIUM

Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli joined George Russell in the top three, sharing the top three positions for the first time since the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix.

With both Russell and Antonelli on the podium, this was Mercedes’ first double podium at the Red Bull Ring since the 2021 Styrian Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen finished in second place, recording his best result of the year to date. This was his first top two victory since his win at the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Verstappen extended his record for the most podium finishes at the Austrian Grand Prix to seven, and extended his record for most top three finishes at the Red Bull Ring to nine.

Kimi Antonelli became the 82nd driver to record as many as ten podium finishes in Formula 1. He becomes the second driver, after Lewis Hamilton, to have stood on every step of the podium in 2026.

Antonelli continues to lead the Drivers’ Championship after the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix. He is the first Italian driver to lead the title race after as many as six races in a row since Alberto Ascari in 1953.

Antonelli is the first Italian driver to finish on the podium in Austria since Teo Fabi at the 1987 Austrian Grand Prix.

Having failed to finish here last year, his podium at the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix marks the first time Antonelli has crossed the finish line at the Red Bull Ring.

Antonelli set the fastest lap for the fifth time in the last seven Grand Prix weekends.
