ABOUT THE AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX
The Australian Grand Prix first joined the Formula 1 calendar in 1985, with a race in Adelaide. That’s where the event would remain through to 1995, hosting the final race of each season. In 1996, the event moved to Albert Park in Melbourne and became the opening race of the year – a slot which it has occupied more often than not since then. Australian drivers have tried to conquer the track over the years, from Webber to Ricciardo to Piastri – but none have taken a bona fide podium at their home event so far.
