Your 2022 Spanish GP Predictions: the results

Did you predict a podium finish for Russell? Or that both Spaniards would pick up points at home? How many of your pre-race predictions for the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix were correct? Find out below!

1. WILL MERCEDES FINISH ON THE PODIUM?

YOUR PREDICTION: NO

CORRECT ANSWER: YES

Mercedes brought a number of updates to the Spanish Grand Prix and appeared more competitive than in previous races. Lewis Hamilton’s race was compromised by first lap contact with Kevin Magnussen but he still managed to finish fifth. Meanwhile, George Russell was in a battle for the lead in the mid part of the race and ultimately finished third, recording his second podium result of 2022.

2. WILL ALBON SCORE A POINT?

YOUR PREDICTION: NO

CORRECT ANSWER: NO

No amount of red hair dye could help Alex Albon score points this weekend. He finished 18th – last of the drivers still running at the end of the race.

3. WILL THE SPANIARDS SCORE?

YOUR PREDICTION: THEY BOTH WILL

CORRECT ANSWER: THEY BOTH WILL

Both Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso scored at their home race, despite encountering adversities. Sainz spun off the circuit early on in the race, but was able to recover to fourth place. Meanwhile, Alonso started last following a power unit change and recovered to ninth place in the final order.

4. WHAT WILL ASTON MARTIN’S BEST RESULT BE?

YOUR PREDICTION: 6TH, 7TH OR 8TH

CORRECT ANSWER: OUTSIDE THE TOP 10

Aston Martin raised a few eyebrows with a new version of the AMR22. The new car did little to help them out on track. Both cars were eliminated in Q1 on Saturday. Sebastian Vettel came close to scoring points in 11th place, while Lance Stroll was only 16th.

5. HOW MANY OF THE TOP 5 STARTERS WILL FINISH IN THE TOP 5?

YOUR PREDICTION: 3 OR 4

CORRECT ANSWER: 3 OR 4

Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, George Russell and Carlos Sainz all finished in the top five having started from the top five grid positions. The only top five starter who failed to finish in the top five was Charles Leclerc – who retired while leading the Grand Prix.
