Your 2018 #SingaporeGP Predictions: The Results

Before the 2018 Singapore Grand Prix weekend began, I posted five prediction polls on the Lights Out twitter account. How many of the questions did you get right? Find out below!

1. Which team will take pole?

YOUR PREDICTION: FERRARI

CORRECT ANSWER: MERCEDES

Throughout the practice sessions it increasingly looked like the 62% of you who predicted Ferrari would take pole in Singapore would be correct. In the end, though, Ferrari’s tyres weren’t in the correct performing window, meaning it was Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen who were battling for the front row. Lewis Hamilton took his 79th pole position, over three tenths clear of Verstappen in second.

2. How many Safety Car periods will there be?

YOUR PREDICTION: 2

CORRECT ANSWER: 1

Sergio Perez caused the only Safety Car period of the 2018 Singapore Grand Prix by clattering into Esteban Ocon, who crashed into the wall on the first lap of the race. The Safety Car stayed out for just four laps.

3. How much will the championship leader lead by?

YOUR PREDICTION: BETWEEN 16 AND 30

CORRECT ANSWER: BETWEEN 31 AND 45

79% of you expected Lewis Hamilton’s championship lead to decrease this weekend. After Hamilton won and Sebastian Vettel finished third, his lead extended by ten points to forty, leaving Vettel with plenty of work to do in the remaining six races.

4. Which midfield team will score more points?

YOUR PREDICTION: TIE – HAAS AND FORCE INDIA

CORRECT ANSWER: McLAREN

Just 8% of you saw this one coming! McLaren scored the most points from this collection of teams. Thanks to Fernando Alonso’s seventh place, McLaren scored six points. Renault finished with both cars in the points – Carlos Sainz scoring four points and Nico Hulkenberg scoring one. Both Haas and Force India failed to score.

5. How many pit stops will the winner make?

YOUR PREDICTION: 1

CORRECT ANSWER: 1

Despite concerns that his tyres wouldn’t last the full distance, Lewis Hamilton made just one stop during the Grand Prix on his way to victory.
