Your 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Predictions: The Results

Did you predict Vettel would score in his last race? Or that Leclerc would secure second in the Drivers’ Championship? How many of your pre-race predictions for the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix were correct? Find out below!

1. WHERE WILL VETTEL FINISH?

YOUR PREDICTION: 7th – 9th

CORRECT ANSWER: 10th – 12th

Sebastian Vettel scored a point on his final Formula 1 appearance – but didn’t quite finish in the top nine! Vettel finished 10th, just over half a second behind the car in front. This was Vettel’s 219th points-scoring appearance, equalling Kimi Raikkonen for fourth in the all-time list.

2. WILL RICCIARDO SCORE POINTS?

YOUR PREDICTION: NO

CORRECT ANSWER: YES

The driver who finished ahead of Sebastian Vettel was his former team-mate Daniel Ricciardo. On his final McLaren appearance, Ricciardo picked up points for the seventh time in the 2022 season.

3. WHO’LL SCORE A BETTER RESULT – ALONSO OR GASLY?

YOUR PREDICTION: ALONSO

CORRECT ANSWER: GASLY

When Fernando Alonso qualified 11th and Pierre Gasly qualified 17th, it looked like Alonso would fare better in his final race with his current team. Instead, it was the man who will replace him next year at Alpine who finished ahead. While Alonso retired from the race, Gasly came home 14th on his final outing with AlphaTauri.

4. WHICH TEAM WILL WIN?

YOUR PREDICTION: RED BULL

CORRECT ANSWER: RED BULL

Max Verstappen secured Red Bull’s 17th win of the year on a weekend at which no other team looked close to the team’s pace. Verstappen finished almost nine seconds ahead of second-placed Charles Leclerc.

5. WHO’LL FINISH SECOND IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP?

YOUR PREDICTION: SERGIO PEREZ

CORRECT ANSWER: CHARLES LECLERC

Sergio Perez hunted down Charles Leclerc in the closing stages of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix but the Ferrari driver stayed ahead to secure second place in the Drivers’ Championship. This is the first time since 2018 that a Ferrari driver has finished in the top two in the standings.
