Your 2022 United States Grand Prix Predictions: The Results

Did you predict that the polesitter would be out of the race by the end of Lap 1? Or that Haas would record their best ever home race result? How many of your pre-race predictions for the 2022 United States Grand Prix were correct? Find out below!

1. WHO WILL LEAD AT THE END OF LAP 1?

YOUR PREDICTION: THE POLESITTER

CORRECT ANSWER: THE DRIVER STARTING 2ND

Carlos Sainz started from pole position, but second place starter Max Verstappen overtook the Spaniard as the cars reached Turn 1 on the opening lap. Sainz was then hit by George Russell, ending his race after just a single lap.

2. WILL THERE BE ANY 2023 DRIVER ANNOUNCEMENTS?

YOUR PREDICTION: NO

CORRECT ANSWER: YES

There was a 2023 F1 driver announcement over the United States Grand Prix weekend. Williams team principal confirmed that American driver Logan Sargeant will race for the team in 2023 if he amasses the points required for a superlicense.

3. WHERE WILL ALONSO FINISH?

YOUR PREDICTION: 7th OR 8TH

CORRECT ANSWER: 11TH OR LOWER / DNF

Despite being catapulted through the air by Lance Stroll, Fernando Alonso finished the United States Grand Prix in a very credible seventh place. However, a post race time penalty dropped him well out of the points in the final order. Nevertheless, Alonso did at least end a 3-race streak of COTA retirements.

4. WILL VERSTAPPEN WIN THE RACE?

YOUR PREDICTION: YES

CORRECT ANSWER: YES

Over three quarters of you backed Max Verstappen to win once more at COTA and he duly delivered. Verstappen recorded his 13th win of the year, equalling the all-time record for most wins in a single season.

5. HOW MANY POINTS WILL HAAS SCORE?

YOUR PREDICTION: 0 POINTS

CORRECT ANSWER: 4 – 8 POINTS

For the first time since 2016, Haas scored points at their home race. Kevin Magnussen finished the race in eighth place, recording the team’s best-ever result at COTA.
