A STATISTIC FROM EVERY GRAND PRIX

2021 BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX

Mick Schumacher had a quiet debut in Formula 1, finishing last of the cars still running at the end of the race in sixteenth place. Of the three Schumacher drivers who have competed in Formula 1, Mick is the first not to retire on his Grand Prix debut.

2021 EMILIA ROMAGNA GRAND PRIX

Mick Schumacher finished in sixteenth place at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. He became the first driver to finish sixteenth in both of his first F1 appearances.

2021 PORTUGUESE GRAND PRIX

With Yuki Tsunoda finishing in a worse position than where he started, Mick Schumacher is now the only driver on the current grid to have never lost a position in any Grand Prix he has started. Schumacher started the Portuguese Grand Prix from nineteenth and finished in seventeenth.

2021 SPANISH GRAND PRIX

After becoming the first Haas driver to out-qualify a car from another team on pure pace in 2021, Mick Schumacher recorded the worst result of his F1 career to date with eighteenth place.

2021 MONACO GRAND PRIX

A crash in Free Practice 3 meant that Mick Schumacher became the first driver to fail to set a lap time in qualifying since Yuki Tsunoda, who crashed out during Q1 at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Schumacher was also the first driver to fail to make an on track appearance in a qualifying session since Daniil Kvyat at the 2019 Russian Grand Prix and the first driver not to appear in qualifying at the Monaco Grand Prix since Max Verstappen in 2018.

2021 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX

Mick Schumacher recorded his best F1 result to date with thirteenth place. It marked the fifth consecutive race at Baku City Circuit in which a Haas driver has finished thirteenth. Schumacher moved up to seventeenth in the Drivers’ Championship as a result of his thirteenth place finish.

2021 FRENCH GRAND PRIX

Mick Schumacher crashed out at the end of Q1, bringing an early end to the session. Ironically, that secured the German his first Q2 appearance; though he couldn’t take part in the session due to his crash. It was the first time a Haas driver progressed to Q2 since the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix.

2021 STYRIAN GRAND PRIX

Mick Schumacher qualified in sixteenth place for the 2021 Styrian Grand Prix. It was the worst qualifying result in Austria for a Schumacher since Ralf Schumacher qualified nineteenth with Williams in 2000.

2021 AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX

For the third time this year, Mick Schumacher finished in eighteenth place. It was the worst race result for a Schumacher in Austria since Ralf Schumacher’s retirement from the 2001 Austrian Grand Prix.

2021 BRITISH GRAND PRIX

For only the second time in 2021, Mick Schumacher finished a Grand Prix behind his Haas team-mate. Of the ten Grands Prix which he has contested so far, he has finished eighteenth in four of them.

2021 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX

Finishing in twelfth place, Mick Schumacher recorded his best Formula 1 result to date. This was despite failing to set a lap time after a Free Practice 3 crash for the second time in his career.

2021 BELGIAN GRAND PRIX

Making his Belgian Grand Prix debut thirty years after his father, Mick Schumacher finished the Belgian Grand Prix in sixteenth place. Despite completing only one lap on his debut at Spa, that’s still further than his father managed in the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix. Driving for Jordan, Michael Schumacher was forced to retire from that race after just a few hundred metres.

2021 DUTCH GRAND PRIX

At the Dutch Grand Prix, after qualifying nineteenth for the third time in the last five races, Mick Schumacher finished eighteenth for the third time in the last five races.

2021 ITALIAN GRAND PRIX

Mick Schumacher’s fifteenth place marked the third time that a Schumacher finished fifteenth at the Italian Grand Prix. Ralf Schumacher also finished fifteenth in both the 2006 and 2007 Monza races.

2021 RUSSIAN GRAND PRIX

Mick Schumacher recorded the first retirement of his Formula 1 career. He’s the first member of the Schumacher family to not retire on his F1 debut. Michael Schumacher retired on his first appearance at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix, while Ralf Schumacher retired on debut at the 1997 Australian Grand Prix. Mick Schumacher becomes the sixth driver to have a 100% DNF record at the Russian Grand Prix. The other drivers with the same record in Sochi are Brendon Hartley, Kamui Kobayashi, Max Chilton, Rio Haryanto and Robert Kubica. Schumacher is the first driver to retire from the Russian Grand Prix having started fourteenth on the grid.

2021 TURKISH GRAND PRIX

For the second time in his career, Mick Schumacher reached Q2. This was the first time he was actually able to compete in the second qualifying session, as he crashed after setting his lap time in Q1 at the French Grand Prix. Fourteenth place is the Haas driver’s best-ever qualifying result, and the Haas team’s best qualifying result since Romain Grosjean qualified fourteenth at the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix.

2021 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX

Mick Schumacher finished the United States Grand Prix in sixteenth place – the same position as his father finished the only time he raced here at Circuit of The Americas in 2012.

2021 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX

Mick Schumacher was out on the first lap of the Mexican Grand Prix. Schumacher recorded the Haas team’s first ever retirement at the Mexican Grand Prix. It was his second retirement of the year.

2021 SAO PAULO GRAND PRIX

Along with Nikita Mazepin, Mick Schumacher recorded the Haas team’s first ever Q1 exits at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

2021 QATAR GRAND PRIX

At the Qatar Grand Prix, Mick Schumacher recorded his ninth top sixteen result of the season. His team-mate has finished in the top sixteen only once so far this year.

2021 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX

Mick Schumacher was the first of five drivers to retire from the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. This was his third retirement in the last seven races. Schumacher’s crash brought out the red flags. It was the fifth time that the first race at a new venue has resulted in a red flag period. It also happened at the 1982 Detroit Grand Prix, the 1996 Australian Grand Prix, the 2010 South Korean Grand Prix and the 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix. You could also include the 1950 Indianapolis 500 on this list.

2021 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX

With both Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin out in Q1, Haas equalled Williams’ record for the most Q1 exits in a single season. Haas had 42 Q1 exits in 2021 from 22 races, while Williams were out in Q1 with both cars at all 21 races in 2019.
