A STATISTIC FROM EVERY GRAND PRIX

2021 BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX

Lance Stroll recorded Aston Martin’s first ever point in Formula 1 with a tenth place finish. Stroll’s point also made the 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix the 100th World Championship race in which a Canadian driver has scored. Canada is the eighteenth nation to reach the milestone.

2021 EMILIA ROMAGNA GRAND PRIX

Lance Stroll became the first driver for Team Silverstone to qualify in the top 10 at Imola since the 2001 San Marino Grand Prix, when both Jarno Trulli and Heinz-Harald Frentzen qualified in the top for Jordan. He finished the race in eighth place, after a post race penalty was applied, and became only the second driver to score for the Silverstone-based team at the track since 2001.

2021 PORTUGUESE GRAND PRIX

Lance Stroll qualified in seventeenth place, recording his first Q1 exit since the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix. The Canadian also qualified seventeenth the last time he was out in Q1. This was Aston Martin’s second Q1 elimination of the season. The team recorded only two Q1 exits in total in 2020. This was the first time Stroll failed to reach Q3 since the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix.

2021 SPANISH GRAND PRIX

Finishing in eleventh place, Lance Stroll failed to score for the fourth time in five appearances at the Spanish Grand Prix. In better news, Stroll out-qualified Sebastian Vettel on Saturday. It’s the first time Vettel has been out-qualified by a team-mate at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

2021 MONACO GRAND PRIX

Lance Stroll, who qualified thirteenth, is still yet to out-qualify a team-mate at the Monaco Grand Prix in four appearances at the event. This was, however, the first time that the Canadian has made it out of Q1 in Monaco, as well as the first time he has not qualified eighteenth at the track. Stroll finished eighth, marking the first time in four appearances at the circuit that Stroll has scored. His previous best result was sixteenth in 2019.

2021 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX

Lance Stroll crashed out in qualifying and crashed out again in the race. He recorded his first retirement since the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix, and the race became the third in Baku which one of Team Silverstone’s cars failed to finish.

2021 FRENCH GRAND PRIX

For the second race in a row, Lance Stroll Stroll qualified in nineteenth place without setting a lap time. He’s still yet to make it out of Q1 at the French Grand Prix. He finished the race in tenth place, becoming the first driver to score from nineteenth on the grid at Circuit Paul Ricard since Jacques Laffite in 1983. It was only the third time that a driver starting further back than seventeenth has scored at the circuit.

2021 STYRIAN GRAND PRIX

Lance Stroll reached Q3 for the third time in the 2021 season. On all three occasions that he has reached Q3 this year, Stroll has qualified in tenth place. This was the first time that Stroll has out-qualified his team-mate since the Spanish Grand Prix.

2021 AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX

Lance Stroll reached Q3 for the fourth time this year. He has qualified in tenth on every occasion that he has reached the top ten in 2021. In the race, Stroll became the fourteenth F1 driver to record eight 13th place finishes in his career.

2021 BRITISH GRAND PRIX

With eighth place, Lance Stroll equalled his best result of the 2021 season. This was his fourth eighth place finish of the year. For a second Silverstone race in a row, the driver starting fourteenth finished in eighth place.

2021 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX

For the first time in his career, Lance Stroll failed to finish the Hungarian Grand Prix. On Saturday, he failed to reach Q3 for the fourth time in his five appearances at the Hungaroring.

2021 BELGIAN GRAND PRIX

Lance Stroll was last of the twenty finishers at the Belgian Grand Prix. He received a ten second penalty after changing his rear wing during the race’s stoppage. It was the first time the Canadian has failed to score at Spa since 2018. Stroll is the first driver to finish the Belgian Grand Prix with the Silverstone-based team and not score a point since Paul di Resta finished eleventh for Force India in 2011.

2021 DUTCH GRAND PRIX

With both Lance Stroll and Nicholas Latifi on the grid, the 2021 Dutch Grand Prix was the 350th World Championship F1 race in which a Canadian driver has raced. After out-qualifying his team-mate for the first time since the Styrian Grand Prix, Stroll finished the race in twelfth place.

2021 ITALIAN GRAND PRIX

Despite losing his 100% Q3 appearance rate at Monza, Lance Stroll finished seventh in the Italian Grand Prix. He scored for the first time since the British Grand Prix. This was the fourth time that Stroll has scored in his five Italian Grand Prix appearances. Stroll’s seventh place marks the first time that the driver starting ninth has scored at the Italian Grand Prix since 2016.

2021 RUSSIAN GRAND PRIX

Qualifying in eighth place, Lance Stroll reached Q3 at the Russian Grand Prix for the first time. This was Stroll’s sixth Q3 appearance of the 2021 season – but the first time he has qualified above tenth place. The Canadian went on to finish eleventh, failing to score for a fifth consecutive Russian Grand Prix appearance.

2021 TURKISH GRAND PRIX

For the second year in a row, Lance Stroll finished in ninth place at the Turkish Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc was the only other driver to record the same result in Istanbul in 2021 as he did in 2020.

2021 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX

Lance Stroll recorded his fourth Q1 exit of the 2021 season – his first Q1 elimination since the French Grand Prix. This was Stroll’s third Q1 exit at Circuit of The Americas. It sees him tie with Marcus Ericsson as the driver with the most Q1 exits at the circuit. This was the first time that Stroll has been out-qualified by a team-mate at the United States Grand Prix since his rookie season in 2017.

2021 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX

Lance Stroll crashed out in Q1 at the Mexican Grand Prix. He recorded his second consecutive Q1 exit – the second time he has done so in 2021, having also been eliminated in Q1 at two consecutive races at the Azerbaijan and French Grands Prix. This was the third consecutive Mexican Grand Prix at which Stroll has been out in Q1. He last reached Q2 here in his maiden season. It was also the third time that Stroll has qualified on the back row in 2021 – but the first time he has qualified last since the 2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Finishing fourteenth, Stroll recorded his worst Mexican Grand Prix result to date.

2021 SAO PAULO GRAND PRIX

Lance Stroll was eliminated in Q1 for a third race in a row. He hasn’t had a streak of Q1 exits that long since recording fourteen Q1 eliminations in a row between the 2018 United States Grand Prix and the 2019 British Grand Prix. Stroll has been eliminated in Q1 on all four of his Brazilian Grand Prix appearances and remains yet to out-qualify a team-mate at Interlagos. On Sunday, Stroll was the first driver to retire from the Brazilian Grand Prix. This was his second consecutive retirement at Interlagos. He’s still yet to score at the circuit. This was Stroll’s first retirement since the Hungarian Grand Prix.

2021 QATAR GRAND PRIX

Lance Stroll finished in sixth place, recording his best result of the 2021 season. It’s his best finishing position since finishing on the podium at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix. On Saturday, Stroll reached Q2 for the first time since the Turkish Grand Prix, ending a streak of three consecutive Q1 exits.

2021 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX

Lance Stroll was out-qualified by Sebastian Vettel for the fifth race in a row. He was last out-qualified by his team-mate at five consecutive races between the 2020 Spanish and Russian Grands Prix.

2021 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX

Lance Stroll made his 100th Grand Prix at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. He also made his 100th appearance with car number 18, becoming the 18th driver to start 100 races with a single car number. Stroll out-qualified team-mate Sebastian Vettel for the first time since the Turkish Grand Prix.
