Your 2020 #BritishGP Predictions: The Results

Before the 2020 British Grand Prix weekend began, I posted five prediction polls on the Lights Out twitter account. How many of the questions did you get right? Find out below!

1. WHERE WILL NORRIS FINISH?

YOUR PREDICTION: 6TH OR 7TH

CORRECT ANSWER: IN THE TOP 5

Lando Norris ran behind his team-mate just outside of the top five for much of the 2020 British Grand Prix. A late race puncture for Valtteri Bottas elevated the Brit to sixth place, before his McLaren team-mate Carlos Sainz suffered the same fate. Norris ultimately finished fifth, picking up his first home Grand Prix points in the process.

2. WHAT WILL THE WIN MARGIN BE?

YOUR PREDICTION: 5 – 10 SECONDS

CORRECT ANSWER: 5-10 SECONDS

Lewis Hamilton’s win margin could have been a lot bigger, had he not suffered a puncture on the final lap of the Grand Prix. His woes allowed Max Verstappen to close in to within six seconds, but Hamilton managed to hold on to win a record-breaking seventh Silverstone race.

3. WHO WILL SCORE MORE POINTS – FERRARI, McLAREN OR RACING POINT?

YOUR PREDICTION: RACING POINT

CORRECT ANSWER: FERRARI

Only 9% of you thought Ferrari would score the most points from this trio of teams over the British Grand Prix weekend. While other drivers ran into trouble, Charles Leclerc claimed an unexpected second podium of the season. With Sebastian Vettel tenth, the Scuderia scored sixteen points in total. Carlos Sainz was running in the top five until a puncture dropped him out of the points, leaving Lando Norris to pick up ten points for McLaren, while Lance Stroll was Racing Point’s only starter and managed to finish only ninth.

4. WHICH TEAM WILL FINISH IN SECOND PLACE?

YOUR PREDICTION: RED BULL

CORRECT ANSWER: RED BULL

After qualifying, we were expecting a Mercedes dominated race – and that was the case until two laps from the end. Valtteri Bottas’ puncture allowed Max Verstappen to creep into second place and finish just five seconds behind race winner Lewis Hamilton.

5. WILL WILLIAMS REACH Q2?

YOUR PREDICTION: RUSSELL WILL, LATIFI WON’T

CORRECT ANSWER: RUSSELL WILL, LATIFI WON’T

For a third successive race, George Russell reached Q2. Nicholas Latifi failed to join his team-mate in the top fifteen after spinning in Q1. Russell was caught out by the yellow flags for Latifi’s incident and was demoted five places on the grid.
