Your 2019 #GermanGP Predictions: The Results

Before the 2019 German Grand Prix weekend began, I posted five prediction polls on the Lights Out twitter account. How many of the questions did you get right? Find out below!

1. RACING POINT, HAAS, WILLIAMS – HOW MANY TEAMS WILL SCORE?

YOUR PREDICTION: ONE

CORRECT ANSWER: ALL THREE

Only 4% of you predicted that all three of the teams listed above would score points at the German Grand Prix. The mixed weather conditions aided Lance Stroll to a fourth place finish, while Haas drivers Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen came home seventh and eighth. Most surprisingly, post-race penalties for both Alfa Romeo drivers saw Robert Kubica move up to tenth in the final order, scoring Williams’ first point of the season.

2. WILL A RED BULL DRIVER FINISH ON THE PODIUM?

YOUR PREDICTION: YES

CORRECT ANSWER: YES

Max Verstappen won the German Grand Prix, giving Red Bull their fourth podium finish and first victory at the Hockenheimring. Pierre Gasly retired from the race after a collision with Toro Rosso’s Alexander Albon.

3. WILL BOTH McLAREN DRIVERS QUALIFY IN THE TOP 10?

YOUR PREDICTION: YES

CORRECT ANSWER: NO

While Carlos Sainz progressed to Q3 and qualified in seventh place, Lando Norris was eliminated in Q1 for the first time in his Formula 1 career.

4. WILL IT RAIN?

YOUR PREDICTION: BOTH DRY

CORRECT ANSWER: DRY QUALI, WET GP

The threat of rain loomed large over the German Grand Prix weekend. While it stayed dry for qualifying on Saturday, the Grand Prix was held in changeable conditions, with rain being a decisive factor in the outcome of the race.

5. WHICH GRID SLOT WILL WIN?

YOUR PREDICTION: POLE

CORRECT ANSWER: 2ND

Polesitter Lewis Hamilton had a race to forget, finishing in a lowly ninth place. Instead, it was the man who started alongside him on the front row who took victory. All of Max Verstappen’s last three victories have come from second on the grid – he’s yet to score a pole position in F1.
